Removing front wheelhouse liner

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it would be possible to remove the front wheelhouse liner without removing the wheel? I'm assuming it's too tight a space, but maybe using alternate full lock would provide access?

(I'd like to add some sound deadening behind the liner but don't really have the space and tools to easily remove a wheel.)

PS - It's my first post but I've already found this forum to be a great place for help and advice - thanks :)

If you dont have the space or tools to remove the wheel then I very much doubt that you will have the space and tools to fit sound deadening with the wheel in place.

You probably could remove the liner but would be crazy to do so, I have removed the fixings and freed off the front half with the wheel in place to remove the bumper or something and it was a real pain, I would remove the wheel next time.

I also suspect that even if you could remove all the fixings you would have to cut it in half to get it out over the wheel, no way will you want to fit sound deadening through such a small gap unless you are a gynaecologist!

Haha thanks. I was wanting to remove the whole liner, apply the sound deadening to the liner while is off the car, and then replace the liner.

It is the thought of trying to squeeze it out through the gap between wheel and body that looks impossible!

I think I'll leave it for now - I'll maybe approach a local garage if the urge gets too strong to resist...

You'll find that almost impossible. There are screws in almost every section of the arch liner, and some would be very difficult to get at with the wheel in place.

Even if you managed to get the fixings out you wouldn't be able to get the liner out past the wheel.

Just buy a jack and take the wheel off.
