Skoda getting sneaky!

Featured Replies

Got to Jabba yesterday looking forward to re-map time! Mike brought the car in and started looking into the ECU only to find that it was different to the others he had done. Because it was a saturday, the chip manufacturers weren't open, so they couldn't get a base code to start the re-map process.

They downloaded the standard map from the old chip, put the new chip in and reverted it to factory setting from old chip until they recieve the code from chip manufacturer.

The bit that has got us all baffled is that the Furby vRS is only a 3 month old model and Mike has now done 3 including mine and each one has had a different ECU! Looks like Skoda are trying to make it more difficult to get a re-map sorted! :nono:

Oh well, at least It should be a fairly quick process once they get the code as the chip has been soldered in place by Elton, so it's just a matter of getting it on the rollers and sorting out those power/torque figures! :D

Graeme, you must be a tad annoyed. Hope you get it sorted soon - it'll be worth the wait!

btw its really going to fly after Jabba. Even the standard one is quick!

I'm not too bad. I understand the problem and it wasn't Jabba's fault, so I can live with it. At least the journey wasn't totally wasted as the Derby meet was great! :D

Bad luck mate.

I know i've come across this before. Luckily enough for me my ECU code was the same type as Jon's (Briskoda member who had a red vRS) so we modified his remap code and uploaded it into my 'one click' (his 181.9 bhp code plus a few tweeks for my car ;) ).

All good things come to those who wait remember :)

Ross, do you know what your engine was putting out as standard?

Bang on 140 bhp and 270 lbft torque

So a fair bit up on quoted standard

Plus as its been serially remapped the actual ECU hasnt beed physically touched. just internally raped :).

just internally raped :).

Ouch  ;)

Ouch  ;)

Nah she loved it...Sooty is my bitch ;)

to be honest i thought that is wot jabba do i didnt think they installed a new chip. not that i care as long as its got the power iam hoping for.

good to see you back ross

A custom map requires a new chip in the ECU to allow the mapping to be finely tuned to the individual car.

Jabba were very impressed with my standard 145 brake at 1800 miles as they haven't seen many PD130's above 140 standard! With some luck, they can get some decent power from this one what with the 4000 miles now on the clock! :D

Was that on standard derv or ultimate?

Was that on standard derv or ultimate?

That was Ultimate, but not with Millers. Now running both, so the power should be up on that now seen as the engine is more run in too! :D
