Fabia MK1 starter solenoid plug

Featured Replies

My son's 2005 Fabia 1.2 HTP developed an intermittent starting problem (no crank, no error lights). I found the wire on the starter solenoid had broken inside the insulation (apparently a common problem).

On inspection the wire was very stiff and corroded near the plug. I cut it back and extended with new wire and fitted a spade terminal which cured the problem for now at least.

However, I am concerned that this will vibrate loose over time as there is no locking mechanism.

The OE plug had a spring clip and rubber seals to prevent water ingress. pictured below

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a new plug, or how I can remove the metal crimp from the plug to rewire it?
