Multiple Fault codes with Kodiaq 2018

Featured Replies

Hi I need some guidance/advice  - i took my kodiaq to a local garage to run diagnostics ( i dont trust local kodiaq dealership) - it is showing multiple fauylt codes..technician said it was most he had seen. The car jolts when moving off - so he said at first he would have said it was the DSG - however now he has seen all the fault codes he said a dealership needed to investigate as it could be something else. Im really worried that the dealership wilk say its the DSG ( they quoted £3.5k to fix!) and wont look at all other fault codes - i wonder if it could be a smaller fault in the comms system that is affecting other things - and could be easier/cheaper to fix, but the dealer will go for the obvious! I wondered if anyone else had had this issue and had advice as I really cant afford £3-4k

I mean, do you have a list of the fault codes?

I don’t think your issue is with the dealer, if an independent can’t fault find with the fault codes as a starting point they either don’t have the equipment or the knowledge.

Without knowing the fault codes we would only be guessing. Have the faults been cleared and rechecked after a drive cycle to see what is current?

And as much as no one wants to fork out £4000, if the dealer has diagnosed a faulty gearbox then find out exactly what is wrong and the evidence they have. At least that way you are somewhat covered.

Thanks - the reason i dont trust the dealer is that they tried to rip me off for new tyres ( said i needed new ones 6 weeks after saying they were fine  - and the car hadnt been driven during the 6 weeks)  and other things. I do have a list of the fault codes - i just dont have the confidence that the deaker will work through these methodically  - rather they wilol simply focus on the one that will ean them the most money - hence why i am asking if anyone else has had this type of issue etc

Pop the list up here, people will be much better able to offer advice with the additional information.

A comms fault will not make the vehicle jerk when moving off.

Please post the fault codes, you cannot ask if others have had the same issue if you do not describe it.

I would not work through the fault codes methodically, if I saw comms faults and low terminal 30 voltages I would check and charge or replace the battery and expect most of them to be resolved (not return after deletion) leaving me with the one(s) to concentrate on.

If your local garage says it's the DSG, and if the Skoda dealer said it's the DSG,  then what makes you believe it's something else?    You're right, it could be something else, but if all evidence points at it being the DSG why would you think differently? Doesn't the fact the car 'jolts' make that probability even stronger?

If you don't trust your local Skoda dealer then have it checked by another Skoda dealer - or any VW / SEAT / AUDI dealer or a VAG specialist.

And if it is the DSG at fault, then depending on that fault, it may be able to be repaired rather than spending £3-4K for it to be replaced altogether.  ( Why have they quoted you £3-4K to fix if all they've done is run diagnostics? What fault was being reported? ).

Depending on the fault, a DSG can be repaired rather than be replaced:   There are others but to use but one example see https://www.autogearbox.co.uk/dsg-gearbox-repairs/

However wouldn't you agree it's pointless speculating until you know what the problem is?

Wow some of the replies are rather rude/unkind?? Quite unnecessary when someone is simply asking for advice!! Thanks to the coiuple of people who have been kind in their responses - however the other replies have put me off this forum quiter frankly - i dont need obnoxious people thanks!

Only 3 posts and already saying people are being rude/unkind when people are only asking for a list of the faults to try and help you out, which you still have not posted.

I don't think any posts are rude/unkind but just trying to help you out on the limited info you seem to want to share.

If you really want help you have to give people as much info as possible to assist you.

Not sure what "jolt" it is, but my car was also making a weird noise and stuttering a bit when starting, especially when I was turning... Cleaned the Haldex system (pump filter), put new oil in, resetted the pump and it improved massively (the car still does the noise when I start dynamically, but it's much reduced from what it was).  Not sure if it helps, but it's worth checking , the oil and parts are under £50, and a bit of work under the car to get the pump/filter out.
