I've calmed down but i'll still **** 'em!

Featured Replies

Ok well after seeing johnnywg's post about some git burgering off after denting his pride and joy i couldn't help but face the facts now that this happens.

I had this done to my car last week in Edinburgh:mad:

I was working through there for the day and parked in a relatively quiet road planty of space and everything.

came out at around 5 afterwards and noticed a big dent on the rear quarter of my Octy.(sorry no pics as my camera is 'on holiday' but neelyp will voutch fo the mess it's made!)

No message:finger: no witnesses :finger: no cameras :finger: just a bloody big dent and some red paint.:finger: :finger:

again think it was caused by a 4x4 or something big as it was quite high up about two thirds of the way up the height of the light cluster.

Got a quote from a garage who reckoned about 300-400 squid.

Anyway i had a walk around in the general area to see if i could see any likely culprits. nope.

well it's taken me this amount of time to calm down enough to actually post this cos i really would like to meet the person who did this to my motor and well lets just say i wouldn't leave a message on him!!!:D

luckily my dads mate has a bodyshop business that is first class and well he's gonna do it for me at cost. he reckons about 180 squid.

What really annoys me  is the fact that they left without a note. I mean everyone can make mistakes and he definitely would have known he'd hit it as the alarm would have gone off !!!

Ok now thats off my chest i feel slightly better but still must go pound a puchbag and vent:mad:

on the only positive side of this though it may bring my plans of a kawasaki orange Octy closer !!!

I'm afraid you've just got to chill we've had two cars done now and the best one was when after searching the car park I found the car that had hit our rear corner panel. My initial reaction was to get a rock from the beach and cave every panel of the car in but after chilling out I got straight on the phone to the insurance who were very helpfull and gave them the reg no of the car only to be told it wasn't insured (52 reg focus) but they would take it up with the dvla to find the owner. I left a polite note on the car and took a few photographs and went on our way. One hour later the cheaky Tw4t phoned me up to say that I had HIT his car, luckily we were some miles away by this time or it could have got nasty. In the end I reminded the chap his car wasn't insured and my next call would be to the local police to inform themof the fact at which he put the phone down. Ended up paying for the damage ourselves at over £400 but I think the chilled approach was better than getting done for criminal damage

if that was me i'd pay him the cost price then give him another £40 or £50 as a thank you, a good tradesman that is honest and helpful can be hard to find sometimes :)

Sorry to hear this mate... I sure know how your feeling. On the upside at least it looks like you can sort it out yourself, at a reasonable price - still dosen't make it right though.

The £1000+ amount of damage I suffered meant I had no choice but to go through insurance, who are now making life as hard as possible for me as I refuse to use their "approved" body shop, reckon it will be at least 4 weeks plus before I get the car in to be sorted.

It sure pi$$es you off though when someone hasn't even got the decency to admit they did it.

It's not the biggest dent I've ever seen, but as always it's in the worst possible place for getting repaired, right on the corner of the back wing.

I go mental if there is a car park ding in my door, God knows what I'd do if this happened to me.

Neil

I never park next to big four wheel drive cars or crappy old cars

I took delivery of a new escort years ago, parked it next to a landcruiser in a supermarket car park

Came out of the supermarket to find a huge dint in my rear door and the landcruiser gone.

Looked like someone getting in the back of the landcruiser was a bit lax when they opened their door:mad:
