Skoda Connect Services Renewal

Featured Replies

When I purchased my Skoda Approved Used Octavia it still had a couple of Skoda Connect subscriptions associated with it that are now due for renewal.

I assume, to keep information in the App such as mpg data, check the car is locked (no remote locking on my model), defect warnings, car alarm notification I would need to renew Care Connect - Remote Access?  If that's the case then I am fine with that.

Infotianment Online - as I don't use the on-board Sat Nav (pay for Tom Tom Go via CarPlay), and understand that I won't receive OTA map updates, I don't see any reason to renew.  The only caveat to that decision is what do they mean by "Online Voice Control"?  I do use Laura to switch radio stations, change Aircon settings, seat heater but that's about it.  I assume that functionality remains?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I'm fairly confident that the voice control for car based functions (aircon, heated seat, ...) will still work OK, I has done when I've used it at times when my mobile has been out of range of mobile signal - no guarantees though as there is always the chance that the car may have been connected to a different network! I've always assumed that the online voice control was for POI or destination look up.

I', inclined to agree that Online Voice Control is likely linked to POI's and that internal commends relating to switching radio and aircon will be fine without subscription.  I guess I'll let that one expire and see what happens.

A friend of mine is called Laura & thinks it's hilarious that I ask her to do so much in the car.....

To be honest is the connect services worth much?

I can check whether the car is locked & the lights turned off using a mk 1 eyeball....free to use!

Guessing without the connect service I can't turn my air con and heated seats on in the car from my house via phone and I like that on a cold day.
