What?? How can I have copied you when you bought me it as a present so I could ring you?! You wimmin

I hear the slide mechanism is a tad flimsy. Other than that it's a damn good phone apperantly.

I have been using a Nokia 6280 for couple of months now and am very pleased with its operation. Some early models suffered from a dodgy slider but mine has had no problems and is quite sturdy.

The large screen is fantastic and although it doesn't have a Series 60 interface, the functions and ease of use are more than adequate for a mid-feature phone. The 2-megapixel camera is quite good and it even records video in VGA format (640x480).

The phone book is clear and detailed with plenty of customisation and easy backup via the PC Suite. Sending text and multimedia messages is also a doddle and there's plenty of built in memory to organise your messages. With a larger miniSD card I can use it to play music and videos or just listen to the radio.

Video calling is of a much better quality due to the larger high resolution screen and the same goes for downloading or streaming video clips. I don't know if your missus' will use all of these functions but at least it's all clear for her to see and operate.

If you have any other questions before or after you decide then PM me.

Thanks, Orinj for the sensible post. She mostly uses the phone for browsing the internet (I hear this is quite a good phone for that) Playing games, texting and takes the odd photo now and again. She also likes an MP3 facility so should be spot on.

She had a SonyE V600i and found it too fiddly and the screen was too small, so hoping for a better phone from Nokia.

Cheers.

Thanks Pixi for that thoroughly awesome post. i too will copy you and buy my wife that fantastic phone just like yours, BTW the cheque is in the post thanks again. Cheers.

Soooooo.... Nokia 6280, any thoughts?

OMG! I am so sorry for my drunken behaviour tonight. It's that bad it took me a good five minutes to choose which thread I was going to post this on.

A few Buds and getting together with a very bad influence has prooved yet again to be another bad decision made by me. My stomach has ached from laughing so much tonight though, in fact I'm laughing right now as I type this

Sorry Pitt man :o:thumbup:

No need to appologise Pixi, I had a good laugh as well. The only trouble is that I can't quite remember what I was laughing at. You probably!:D

I've got a 6280 as my work phone.

The slide doesn't feel as solidly made as the Samsungs I've used so I'd question it's long term reliability.

No problems with the rest of it though.

It's all nice and easy to use and the screen is excellent

 don't encourage me for God's sake

I was still laughing when I got up this morning and things started coming back to me :D although some things still remain a bit blury :o

nokia 6280 , a work collegue has just got one , it seems to crash quite often , i've also read a review saying battery life is a bit poor

Soooooo.... Nokia 6280, any thoughts?

It WILL need a software upgrade within the first 3 months of ownership. Don't be put off by this it's more the network than the phone at fault and most 3 handsets have a few issues like this.

Other than that it is a reasonable handset, and uses the new BB5 technology which is a lot faster than 4. The battery life won't be fantastic on it, it's 3g.

its got a proper "who wants to be a millionaire" game on it , 49p for a 3 day subscription , good fun until the phone crashes or you get a repeated question , but i keep suprising everybody with my knowledge of useless info , LOL

Don't do it, two friends have them on 3, and both of them have no end of trouble, often being without a phone for days at a time.

Had the option of one of these a while back but opted for a good old nokia 6230i. It does everything i need like taking pics, radio, voice recorder (can record telephone conversations too- essential in my line of work), mp3 player, handsfree via bluetooth and Outlook synchronisation over bluetooth. But the best features of all is the fact that it never crashes and parts are cheap (like a desktop charger with spare battery slot c/w genuine nokia spare battery all in delivered from hong kong for £7.99).
