I realise it is colder now

winter has set in but the engine seems to take longer to warm up even in the summer months for the blue light to extinguish. Wish I had a gauge instead. Where is the coolant thermostat located in the engine bay on my1.2 tsi?  Although being a later model my sister-in-laws Fabia has a gauge and reaches 90 degrees C a lot quicker.

The housing is number 7 in the illustration, it is at the back of the engine (gearbox end)

I would connect an OBD scanner that can do live data to see what temperature is being measured by the temperature sensor. 

 

Thank you. Please can you recommend an OBD scanner. I have an infra-red digital thermometer which may be useful if I know what to point it at!
