Lighting up the trees!

Featured Replies

Anyone knows how I can lower the top beam on my zenons fitted to Superb Estate 2020 model without lowering the dipped beams?  Dipped beams look to be about right but the top beams light up the trees?

You can't, they are bi-xenons and share the same lens for dipped and high beam. Only thing you can do is find balance between those two.

Thanks for coming back so quick, That's what I thought.  What a daft idea, surprised that Skoda haven't devised a fix.  Regards, Chris

Pretty sure the 2020 Superb doesn't have Bi-Xenons, and has LEDs.

The pre-facelift used Bi-Xenons.

My 2020 superb SE estate (factory build Jan 2020) has standard LED headlights - but interestingly, halogen indicator bulbs.

It does have Bi-Xenon, 100% certain.  It is on a 20 plate, was there a facelift sometime that year?  Wish it did have LEDs; my last car had them and they were really bright and lit the road up well, even when it was raining.  As I am going to keep this car for a few years I wonder if the lights can be upgraded?

Strange, I have a 69 plate ( registered 1/9/19 ) facelift SEL hatchback with full LED lighting,  Could it possibly be a result of the component shortages during that time?

@chris1949 - post a pic of the front of ur car, that will clarify things.

In 2020 Skoda was rolling out the Facelift Superb out of its production lines.

Here is pic of the two.

Top is facelift, thinner headlights, thinner fogs and wider grille.

Bottom is pre-facelift.

I was led to believe  that in the UK all superbs build from July 2019  and launched in September 2019 were the facelifted model as per your top picture. By 2020 almost certainly all Superbs shipped to the UK were the  facelifted versions.

Unless someone knows differently🙄

Hi Shuggyboatsuperb ,  have I got this right from what you are saying? - do your front indicators run white ( along the bottom and outside ) of the front light unit during lights on and change to yellow when you indicate? and are your rear indicators dynamic?

Hi Stonechip,

not at all:   Main and dipped beam are LED, daylights along the bottom of that unit are also LED ( white only).

Then the little triangle section below for the indicator contains a separate orange bulb ( Philips PWY24W).

At the rear its LED tail and brake with simple PY21W bulbs for the indicators.

Thanks for taking the time to explain  shuggyboatsuperb , think I have it now!!😁

Dear All.

Please find pictures of the front of my 2020 registered Superb Estate.  As you can see it is fitted with a single Bi-Xenon headlight.  The DRL is above the main headlight unit.  Have I bought a car with the old style headlights as most of you seem to be saying that the Superb was undated in 2019?  Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris1949 , the front end is the pre facelift model, if the back of the car has a skoda badge in the middle then I'm sure that you have a pre facelift model.

For a quick reference all facelifted models have SKODA across the back and have LED matrix lights on the front

There's really nothing more to check here, it's clearly a pre-facelift.

@chris1949 - u definitely have a pre-facelift, that was registered in 2020, not built in 2020.

As already mentioned above - u can't adjust the high beam separately to the low beam because Bi-Xenon.

That said, I have a pre-facelift Superb myself and the high beams r good.

Here is a video of my high beams in action...

Wish I had known about the lights before I bought the car - the lights really let the vehicle down: in all other ways it is a great vehicle.  Thanks for all you input on the subject - I don't suppose it's possible to upgrade / improve the lights / can you retro-fit LED headlights?

Every car with a single bulb for headlight and high beam from about 1990 has done it the exact same way without issue, all that it does is light above the 'shutter'/cut off, it doesnt make the light for normal headlamps any brighter, as much as us superb owners wish it would!

I disagree - the Bi-Xenon lights on the mk3 Superb r great, provided they r correctly aimed.

U can swap out the D3S xenon bulbs for better ones, but either way - it still needs to b aimed properly, just like other cars.

I've got the Phillips xTremeVision Gen2 in mine.

Thanks,  I'll get the lights 'aimed' properly and see if that improves the top beam beam.  Cheers, Chris

I had a 07 Scout with Bi-Zenon and the main beam was good for lighting the tops of trees.

Now on a 67 plate VRS and the lights are amazing!
