Second Hand Car - Never been Update (Infotainment systems - 1803)

I think that you need to read through the threads and then make a decision whether you can do it or not.

If in doubt get a dealer to do it and that way if it goes awry they're responsible for the cost of replacing or repairing it, rather than you.

I completely agree with you, but still looking for any additional positive experience of software upgrade.

BTW, the post I mentioned was about upgrading from 1803 to 1941 by one update only

Unless you are entirely comfortable about doing the upgrade yourself then I would recommend that you get your dealer to do it for you. It's the safest option.

I think that we have one poster having significant issues with the update going awry and having to go to the dealership for rectification work.

Totally agree.

Despite (or because of) working in IT since the late ‘80s I wouldn’t attempt a DIY update to my car. For me, it’s a simple risk analysis - if I screw it up then the consequences are catastrophic!

Whilst I would not, others may choose to take the risk…

I did by myself an update from v1941 to v1969:

Unfortunately I have blocked the system and it seems I cannot solve it by myself.

I would never do it again 😞

Hi!

Thank you you for sharing your experience! But what happened to it? What do you mean by blocked?

After I saw a few posts of people going directly to 1941 from 1803 and having the same hardware info as myself ( H56), I have taken the chance and upgraded to 1941 directly . The upgrade went smooth and took about 30 minutes . About a week passed and everything seems in order.
