FAO: Mannyo, Walkie and other "soft-top" car drivers

Featured Replies

Do you find people look at you like you're some kind of freak if you drive with the roof down in anything but the sunniest weather ?

Yep :grumpy:

But they may realise that I actually have to as my head is above the level of the screen

I get that without even needing to drive a soft top :D

Chris

I shout abuse at the one's who have the hood up when it's sunny.I'd have it off all the time.

I might want to re phrase that

So would I, but wtf has it got to do with convertables?

Just ignore them - I'd be the same if I had a drop-top, as long as it's not chucking it down, get that hood lowered. If it's a bit cold, crank the heater up and wear a hat :D

As for people driving about in cabrios with the hood up in hot weather (usually Boxsters and various flavours of open Mercs) - WHY?!? What the hell did you buy the car for if you're not going to use it properly?:mad:

 ;)

Mini drivers are also prone to forgetting how the roof works - To the extent that I've never seen one withthe roof down!

Angle grinder is being used in anger tomorrow afternoon. ;) Need to open up some "ventilation" as it happens. ;)

 That really cracked me up reading that!

If its not raining then my roof is down,

Thats why i bought it to enjoy driving without the roof on.

If its cold put the heated seat on,coat/jumper/hat/gloves whatever is require and off i go.

Do get funny looks though, especially on the M25 in Jan with the roof down!!!! LOL

Also found that if I'm doing more than 25 I don't get wet - however I always seem to hit traffic - stopped under a bridge on the M1 the other night as it was hammering down and I knoew there were traffic light at the next junction where I was getting off.

I love having the roof down, but as my head is above the windscreen I do get a cold head :( Ah well, I still love driving topless ;):D

I do find my left ear gets cold though! With the heater on full blast and the heated seat on everything else stays warm - SWMBO suggested some ear muffs but I think I'll suffer it for now!

I had someone shout to me that "its winter mate" I shouted back that it was actually spring

Me too, or rather I did :(

A beenie hat covering your ears and you'll be fine. No pinky fluffy earmuffs required then ;)

Steve

Yep, get some funny looks if the weather is not sunny sometimes. Got a good collection of baseball caps going now. I just love the feeling of topless motoring, so even have the roof down on cold nights. I find that with heater, coat and hat, I can be toasty warm in any weather.

Do have it up if the sun is really hot though, saves cooking in traffic, just put roof up and aircon on.
