Breakdown cover

Featured Replies

Have had Karoq from new last year, there was no paperwork about Skoda breakdown cover but could anyone confirm it’s included for 3 years? For trips abroad would it cover Europe also?

Maybe an idea to ring and check, but the current brochure says yes

I didn’t get any paperwork either with my either so called them to confirm. The lady on the phone took my reg and checked, yes, 3 years cover still including europe and she confirmed they don’t issue the plastic cards anymore.

Downside to the Skoda assistance is that it’s provided by AA which wouldn’t be my personal choice but hey it’s free so I’ll stick with it until it runs out.

Hi, What’s your issue with AA?

That's like saying  the tyres came free as well...   plus a free warranty...  and a free engine.  :D

Ironically although you could consider the tyres were ‘all-in’ when we bought the car, I got shot of them within a month because (a) they only just satisfied the bare minimum as regards tread and (b) they provided such a crap ride.

As for ‘free AA’ I wasn’t made aware that’s who Skoda Assistance was managed by but it did save shelling out £s to sort my own cover.  Although I’ve only had cause to use them once (we waited well over 3 hours for a tyre to be dealt with) I’m hoping that I’ll not need to call them out again before the cover expires when I’ll chose my own provider

You can download the policy details from the Skoda website.

Because it includes European cover I found it cheaper to go elsewhere (for a UK only policy) after 3 years rather than renew the Skoda cover.

ISTR one oddity with the European cover, any claim the first 2 years was billed to Skoda (or whoever pays the bill), the third year was on the basis of “you settle the bill and reclaim back from Skoda (or whoever reimburses you)”.  I thought a bit odd at the time but didn’t pay much attention as wasn’t planning to head overseas in the car.  Now car is out of warranty no longer an issue.

I’ll be doing the same when the Skoda cover runs out. I was previously with Driver Guardian and it was less than £100 for full UK and Europe cover; think the comparable cover with AA at the time was well over £200
