Octavia Vrs 245 2018

Featured Replies

Good evening everybody,

I acquired a Skoda Octavia MK3 VRS 2018 DSG today from Skoda , 1 years warranty .

Drove home 110 miles and what a lovely drive it was.

Question ? When I started it from cold I had a little 1-2 second rattle type noise so turn car off for few mins start again and doesn't do it , only seems to do it the first start after a few hours , vehicle has full Skoda history and 65k miles

All help appreciated, if anyone has VCDS or can read if vehicle got chain stretch etc , I was under the impression the newer models didn't have chain trouble

** EDIT --- Rattle / ticking for 1-2 seconds ... Did not no how to edit

What you're describing sounds very reminiscent of the noise the EA888's make as they build oil pressure on startup.  My GTI does it, as did my 220 vRS before it (Both EA888 G3's).  Mrs Gaz's Polo GTI (1.8TSI) also does it.

Cheers buddy

Should add the GTI and the vRS before it were both bought new, and did it from day one.  Does it sound a bit like one of the old centrifugal starter motors, where they'd continue to spin for a second or two?

It comes up from  time to time, e.g.:

Yea it's like a very fast rattle then gone , I'm sure I had it on a Jag as well and certain it was on my Audi TT

?what does the full service history show as being done.  Were the spark plugs replaced, air filter, brake fluid, and the VAQ diff serviced as per Guidelines, recommendations, specification or schedules.

Plenty of oil changes all done at Skoda since new , diff done , but cnt see anything about plugs being done , should I do them ,

Just checked plugs were changed at 40238 miles along with water pump

And had 5 oil changes Inc water pump and haldex  , ,  service was done with brake fluid service Wednesday just gone

Water pump was not a requirement by normal schedule but as long as just routinely done that's ok.
