starter buttons

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anybody out there fitted a starter button to an octavia vrs if so any advise would be appreciated regards whoosh:thumbup:

Better off in here rather than the Folding section.

Not done it, but saw one on Ebay the other day.

Got one in the rally car.

Of course if you do do it make sure you tell your insurance you have done it, esp if replacing they key start.

maybe not as cool as a starter button, but I am getting a remote start that operates off a keyfob. Got a mate who is an auto electrician and he put a clifford system on the bike. He reckons there is stuff suitable for CanBus so I am going to give it a whirl :-)

The ebay one basically needs the key and then you press the button instead of turning it through to the 'start' position (or you can just use the key).

Doesn't seem to add much value that way, but it does mean the standard immobiliser stuff is untouched so that would help for insurance purposes ;)

On a ralley car it makes much more sense to have this kinda thing though IMHO :)

Fluff, i'm fairly certain that most insurance companies won't insure you if you ahve a way of starting the car unattended. The two main reasons given are theft while you are not in car and starting it in gear and causing damage to another vehicle.

Either way i would speak to your insurance company before you spend your money on that. Also depending on who you speak to including different people at clifford the remote start invalidates the alarms cat I certification (or not).

So what if you've left it in gear and forget prior to pressing your remote start button? Doh.....
