I used to be able to read the Superb maintenance manual no problem, but for some reason this week I’m struggling.

 

car went in for its 24mth service, it’s done 9k miles.  I asked them to do the brake fluid and they offered an air conditioning purge service for £10 so I said yes (suspect it’s just a decontamination).

 

I can’t find anything written on whether they would have changed the air filter and the pollen filter, I’m fairly certain they haven’t done the pollen filter as I’ve seen the fixed price servicing chart from year 3 and they charge £35 for that, but I can’t find anything for year 2.  And then I wondered if they’d done the air filter as well.  I’ve ordered a carbon pollen filter anyway from Eurocarparts for £14 as they have a Bosch sale on.

Did another dummy online booking (I booked it months ago), think I found the answer as they’re all optional items

The Pollen / Cabin Filter has always been at 2 years / 20,000 miles, even up to 2019 Fixed Price Servicing At participating dealers, cars 3-10 years old. 

 

 

This is showing fixed servicing, and the PHEV Oil & Filter changes are on the fixed regime.

 

Brakes were @ 3 years then each 2.  Now back to each 2 on them, not just PHEV,s.

 

Check your Air Filter.  They should but might not.  6 years is ridiculous if never checked in that time.

Pollen filter as you are doing. 

 

DQ400-e DSG is every 4,000 miles.   Not as with DQ381,s now supposedly at 80,000 miles. CRAZY.

I’d never pay for skoda to replace a filter, but, I don’t really want to go and buy a £15 filter and 20mins later find it was done either!

 

I find the whole service schedules so… untransparent, it’s no wonder customers are left confused or constantly asking questions like when does my DSG have a service.  The chart you posted is different to the one I saw when I put my reg in on the service portal, not massively, but it’s different.  I’ve never seen one that shows year 1&2 on it.

There was a 2022 Price List. Then a partial 2023 and lots of POA.

 

DQ200 DSG have no Service Intervals. None are by years, so not at 4 years.

 

VAQ (Front ) Diffs were @ 3 years / 30,000 miles, now at 2 years, those do not show.  Octavia vRS.

Haldex at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner.

When you do your pollen filter do it the correct way by placing at least cardboard under the pollen filter, keep cardboard there then remove pollen filter.

 

Filters are not changed but a chargeable extra so it’ll still be the originals

£67….? To replace the pollen filter…..? It literally took idiot me ten minutes, start to finish, including finishing me tea, unwrapping the very expensive Mann Clinkerstomdisinfectonstafuntenfart filter, walking to the car, contorting myself in the footwell and walking to from the car in the garden!
They cannot pay more than £4 trade for the standard filter (on the basis we used to get 68% on filters) so that works out to an hourly labour rate of….. drum roll….. a mere £378!! 

Nice earner🏴‍☠️

And probably even quicker and easier access to the air filter!  

 (Although you need a highly complex tool in your Skoda specialist workshop to do the air filter LOL,   - a splined bit)

£144 for spark plugs??? Now I get that an expensive set of plugs may be £15 each so £60. With the other £80 you could buy all the tools and still have change left over!

Are Skoda Dealers online booking sites using AI or some system that gives prices that are ridiculous to some potential customers that might just pay these.    Is there no available booking times for Recall Actions, warranty jobs, diagnostics because they are out the door with Golden Goose Egg jobs.    All the techs away getting trained to do BEV servicing or not.   Or busy doing PDI,s on PHEV,s that they can not then actually find time to take in for work if there are issues.      Is the OP,s car being quoted ridiculous service item costs because of is a PHEV.??

phev's might well be part of the problem but  pricing obviously is coming from the top ie VAG , then there's brexit and euro exchange rate

before vag got involved, skoda dealers where attached to back street garages that done the repairs and sold the estelles etc, with no fancy showrooms to pay for.

 

i can remember when the  euro first came out, you could get a 1.9 tdi octavia from ireland  for £9995 ,  the way things are going it will soon be £9995 for a service  😀

They do:   About 6 years ago a workmate bought a nearly new A4 from Audi,  after paying a fortune for a service a year later he also got an estimate/ forecast of the following years work required - among it was brake fluid change for something like £370 ! !     Just for the brake fluid change.   Total estimate for routine stuff was well over 1k

I haven’t messed around on the Skoda website to see if location changes the prices, but interesting if they’re different.  As it happens they did the brake fluid for free and I’m just about to pick up the filters and do them myself - I will defo get the plugs done from an independent if I still have it.

 

We had a Discovery V before the Superb, when I took that for something like rear brakes the dealership seemed to quote prices well above the website booking engine and I forced them to match them - they were always really reluctant because the website prices were competitively priced.

 

Ive had an Audi before and quite often they will match independents.

@globalste  please if you can be bothered just so i know try the new Booking page for HAWCO Inverness,  VW / Skoda, they have Peterhead as well and see the prices they charge.

Just as well there is Victoria Garage Maud for Skoda owners wanting proper work carried out at proper prices.

Yep they both charge similar via the online booking too, Inverness was more expensive than Salisbury with £200 more for cambelt!

Seems local dealerships have changed to a charge what they want, that’s annoying.

 

One thing I loved about VAG cars, the price was consistent and the price you see in like ETKA is the price you pay

Also worth remembering that the All in One has some things included that are cost options on normal service, eg get one set of spark plugs included, so even if not due, ask for it to be done as they are effectively free.
