Timing chains

Featured Replies

My 2011 petrol vrs has a faulty timing chain tensioner and therefore has slipped four teeth. Is this worth fixing? The garage says it’s a gamble and I would have to get a chain fitted to fix it. £1000 gamble!

Four teeth of slippage sounds like major damage that will require a major rebuild. Dubious that it's worth it.

Probably cheaper to swap a known good engine in, trouble being finding one that's known to be good at a decent price.

Thanks for your reply. I’m new to this forum and having looked around it doesn’t sound like my gamble will pay off!
