MySkoda (Essentials): No longer providing either data or control

Featured Replies

Here in Aus the essentials app was of limited use and it will tell you to get the main skoda app, but even then that one didn't do much but at least it allowed you to enter your vehicle, now that one is totally useless. Both of them have been updated, the essentials one is the same with the additional message that it will be shut down,  but in the main skoda app when i enter the VIN to find the vehicle it gives me this message:  "Vehicle not supported by app.  Your skoda is supported if it meets one of the following" then it proceeds to give absolutely nothing. At least before the update my vehicle was recognised by the main skoda app even though it never could do any of the fancy stuff it can for non Aus locations. It would be nice if they could provide better app services for us down in Aus. Screenshot_20240602_102032_Mykoda.thumb.jpg.d0d7795f64034c373bcebafa6a2d429e.jpg

So i got the warning that the essentials app is closing down, so i got the my skoda app.

it seems fine, but the section where you can look back at previous journeys and see driving data for each individual journey has all been merged and now a daily avg is the highest resolution data it can show,  also you can’t change between “since refuel” “journey” or “long term.” Any more.

is that right, or have i missed a trick somewhere?

Everything else seems functional and much as it was, albeit a bit slicker (and more advertisements).

I’m on ios if that makes a difference?

The My Skoda app doesn't have any of my driving data, i.e. there are no bars on the graphs, but Essentials is still working... for the moment.

I'm assuming that the chances that any of the data will be transferred across will be, at best, zero.

that’s different than my experience, when I got it all the data is there going back 18 months since the car was new.

Looking for a bit of help with the Skoda Essentials App.

Logged in with my tablet and see a message saying that it will be discontinued as of 17th July download the new MySkoda App.

Went to download said app but a message in red says "Your device is not compatible with this version"

I have been using a RCA tablet with Android  version 8.1 without a problem for ages.

Can anybody tell me what i need to do?

Is it the Android version that is the problem?

Yep. New tablet time.

Android 8 is extremely obsolete and outdated and a security risk.

Even my S22 Ultra is running Android 14 and UI 6.1 and it will be obsolete in less than 6 months as fewer and fewer updates will be forthcoming.

I've just checked the app the app this morning and it has reverted to the stupid US Mpg stats AGAIN..

The current MySkoda app does now work on Android 8.1. Despite the above message in the summer, it seems Skoda has kept the Essentials app still working until this week (when it's now discontinued again). Perhaps they realised there were still a lot of us with older devices.

Didn’t use it much to be honest but I paid last year for the remote access to view info on the app. Limited use for me as a straight petrol engine but got an email saying it’s due for renewal and then saw this message on the site to say it is closing down soon anyway.
