Hey!

I'm looking to buy a set of second hand summer wheels for my Mk III and there seems to be a better options to choose from 225/50 R17 sizes, instead of 225/45 R17, which I have right now. Has anybody here installed 225/50 R17? If so, any issues with this size?

Thank you in advanca!

Welcome.

Maybe @Carlston  will be along with some advice.

The Octavia MK3 Scout uses 225/50R17 fitted to 7Jx17 ET45 5/112 57.1 alloy rims.

The 17" rims on the Karoq also use 7Jx17 ET45 5/112 57.1 alloy rims, albeit with 215/55R17 tyres. However, these Karoq 17" rims are one option but with the 225/50R17 tyre size.

I can add that same height but narrower 205/55/R17 work just fine on Mk3 vRS, fitted to 6Jx17 ET48 Mk3 vRS "winter" Crystal alloys (I use them all year round with all weather tyres) ,

I guess 225/50/R17 on 6J ET48 or 7J ET49 will be fine too. but have not tried that size. Speedometer is accurate with this tyre diameter.

It seems MK3 Octavia calls for more ET offset, so you might run into issues with 225/50 tyres and wheel offset much different to ~ET48 (like ET45).
