Aftermarket fit of raised boot floor

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve just bought an Oct 2021 SE Tech. It has a few minor problems which I will get fixed over time. However, the thing I need (and miss) most is a raisable boot floor. Does anybody know if this is available aftermarket? My dog won’t get into the boot because she can no longer see out the windows. I must have a raised boot floor. If it’s not available aftermarket, I’ll have to employ a joiner to build a framework to support a reinforced raised floor. Any ideas?

Please tell me I can get this aftermarket.

I remember @SashaGrace fitting one to her Octavia in 2018, so would presume it's similarly viable.  Starts here:

I’ve noticed that. The other 3 doors have a switch they don’t use on the Golf/A3 etc which could come with a chrome bit on the switch.

However, attention now has to be turned back to the variable boot floor as it has arrived unexpectedly quickly! My son was quite taken with the package.

I decided to check everything was there and as it was, I mocked up the set up in the kitchen to get an idea of how it will all look.

The seller apologised and sent me a partial refund because the extra clip in side carpets had gotten damaged, but I can live without those until it’s all fitted. While I’m on holiday I’ll try and get in done over the next few days but I need to remove everything from my car and work out how to make it fit. Stay tuned for updates!

Wow, Gaz, that looks seriously major, and very expensive. I think it’ll be much easier and cheaper to get my local joiner to build a framework on which I can place a chipboard floor. That could then be removed for the MOT.

Do the testers even check for a spare wheel nowadays?

As far as I am aware, as a spare wheel isn't a legal requirement, if one is present it is not subject to MOT.

This from Gov.uk

2.12 Tyres and wheels

These will be inspected to check for:

  • condition
  • security
  • tyre size and type
  • tread depth

Spare wheels and tyres are not inspected.

Vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012 will be checked to make sure the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) MIL is working.

That’s helpful information Routemaster1461, thank you. So, it’s to the joiner I must head.

One considerable advantage of a DIY raised floor is you can increase the load rating - IIRC, the OEM one has a weight limit of 80Kg.

Okay Warrior193 - you're starting to lose me - I have no idea what all these initials mean but my dog is the only thing that will be in the boot for the next few years and she's under 40kg

FYI @BigCrayon

DIY = Do It Yourself
IIRC = If I Recall Correctly
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

kg = kilogram

Means you can get another similar sized dog! :nod:🐶👍

Anyone got any thoughts on an aftermarket reversing camera?

Think this would be a better question in a new thread with appropriate title to the post.
