Method

1.       Make up a wiring loom, using a minimum 1.5 m length of triple core as the extension piece. I used 3 core just to stop one wire flapping and the cost difference is nil.

2.       The connection on the fog lamp is a deemed a female according to AliExpress so we need to make a female to male adaptor joined to the 3 core cable to act as a piggy back connection.

3.       Please note that there are only 2 wires connected, the two at the bottom away from the rounded section, I did not know this when I started so I joined all 3 cores just to act purely as a full link cable. Use heat shrink as required to aid joints and insulation.

4.       Jack car up and remove the near side wheel.

5.       Remove the wheel arch liner you can remove it all or just the back part and tuck it under the rear brake dust guard. Instructions to remove below….

Removing and installing the rear wheel arch liner Skoda Karoq
Removal

- Remove the wheel
- Unscrew the screws as indicated by 2 & 3 below

6.     With a little twisting the arch comes out very easily, it is stapled together at the top this makes it very flexible and easy to remove..

7.     Looking towards the rear of the car you will see a T25 torx that holds the rear fog light in position, undo this screw, beware access is limited!

8.     Now for the 13mm socket, this is used to "compress one of the two the "locking lugs" on the fog light. Using the trim tool pull the lamp out as far as possible then, begin to remove the second one, this is further in and is impossible to access so this is where the trim removal tool comes into play. With gentle persuasion lever the fog light out.

9.     Using your Dremel grind away the piece of blanking plastic to allow the brand new second hand LED module to be fitted. All holes for fixing the module are already there.

10.  Clip in the newly modified lamp and tighten the T10 screws. Fit theT25 screw and tighten.

11.  Connect your extension lead to the newly installed n/s fog light and feed through underneath the rear bumper, I tried to feed through the crash bar with an electricians draw tape  but gave up, as the connections were always catching on something.

12.  Refit wheel arch.

13.  Refit wheel.

14.  Remove offside rear wheel.

15.  Remove offside wheel arch liner.

16.  The fog light connection is not visible as it is fixed to the body.

17.  The offside of the car is different to the near side, there appears to be more room.

18.  I located the connection by tracing the fog light cable and then with a twist and a tug the connection was removed from the body.

19.  Inset your "piggy back " loom and test your new fog lights.

20.  Put everything together and relish in the thought that you have a Karoq with two fog lights…..

Do you know why they only have one rear fog?

Yes because skoda uk order their cars with just one it's the minimum legal requirement and saves them a little money !
