Bodywork and alloy wheels protection

Featured Replies

Hi All, I am about to pick up my new Skoda Karoq and the dealership are trying to sell me additional care options: ‘bodywork and allow cover’ @£549 for 36 months and ‘interior and exterior protection @£559’, is it worth it, does anyone have experience of these type of protections and are there better options from elsewhere besides the dealership? Thanks

I wouldn't go for it, I know dealers where the valeters just keep the stuff and put some cheap polish on.

How about the body work protection they’re offering - 18 call outs for scuffs, dents, panel scratches and stone chips over a 3 year period?

That's entirely up to you, for me I'm not sure. I would rather take it to a decent body shop I trust. Is it on pcp? Then could be worth it.

What do these actually mean? What products are used, and what is covered to what extent? Just stating the questions your post makes me ask.

@SUP  is that you that has called someone out 18 times?  Should be buying a banger.

I've been offered, and declined, the same on the last two cars that I've bought new.  You're far better off, in my opinion, having a new car protection detail undertaken.  I've been very happy with the results on my current GTI and previous vRS 👍

Definitely a professional detailer will do a much higher quality job and will last longer.

Hi @Gaz I was offered paint and fabric protection and then the bodywork protection. With regard to the new car detailing protection, did you take that out with the dealership? Thanks

Read the t&c's very closely, as I believe they're often not worth the paper they're written on.  New car protection detailing is absolutely not to be trusted to a main dealership :shake: 👎  You need to find a professional car detailer.  Chap I use was recently commissioned to detail a car before it left the dealership, which he did.  The car cleaners (contracted) at the dealership had completed one car before he'd got everything out of his van and he was taken aback at what they thought was a good job.

I don't think the stuff used by dealerships to protect paint and fabrics are worth it.  A good detailer will know what to use.  The vRS's NCP was done in a day, but with the GTI I went the whole hog and it was three days overall (wheels off, top to toe).
