Does levelling cause the AFS error?

Featured Replies

My lights do their merry dance on switching on but I almost immediately get the No bend lighting (AFS) function error. A garage has replaced the rear axel angle sensor before noticing that the front axel one is seized. Is replacing the front level sensor too likely the solution? The error codes are 496 for the front and 497 for the rear.

Well you know the front sensor is faulty anyway so you need to replace it no matter what. If replacing it fixes your problem, great. If it doesn't, then you've ruled out a possible cause.

Thanks for the comment. Is it in fact necessary to fix the sensor other than to maybe clear the alarm?

It's broken so yes, it's necessary. That sensor is part of the level control system so if it's broken that won't work correctly .

Happily replacing it did fix the AFS alarm too.

@toodeep
Do you know the part number for the front sensor which you replaced?

I don't, alas, and noticed your query very late. ☹️

No worries, already found and replaced.

I posted another thread with the details, part numbers & photos.
