MOT Question

Featured Replies

My Furby was first registered in Mid July 2003 (15th I think) and not having had to MOT a "new" car before  my question is when do I need to get it's first MOT ??

When I renew insurance in September?

Before I tax it in August?

Or anytime now?

Needs to be done for the same date as it was registered but 3 years later...

Cheers Mate

I'll get the pennies out then

If it fails on anything I'll be very surprised. One note though - turn the headlight dip adjuster to the highest. Mine only failed on that on its first time out (if you keep it down on "3" like I usually do)

So it should cost you around £30-£45 depending where you go. :)

I paid £44.15 which ties in with the following site....

Usual failings on a newish car will be bulbs and headlight alignment, neither of which are going to break the bank :D All my modded diesels have also sailed through the emissions test :D

Here's a tip for you, get it done a few weeks before its 3 years old. That way if it fails its still under warrenty and you can get it fixed for free. ;) (as long as the fault is covered of course)

I get mine done for £15 ;)

You should get a notification in the post of the first MOT IIRC

take your V5 documents with you if you get it done much before the 3 years are up , that way the test station will have proof of the date of registration

 Most cars coming up for their first MOT are already on the computer system.... Thats the good thing about the new test, it will tell you first reg; date and also add any time on if you have the test done within a month of its expirey
