New Scala - any strange anomalies and warning lights

Featured Replies

Has anyone experienced any sudden warning lights coming on whilst driving?  I have had two in the few weeks we have had the car.

The first was a sudden loss of tire pressure warning, pulled over checked the tires and all looked ok. Did a reset of pressures and so far so good.

Yesterday whilst exiting on a roundabout the indicator suddenly made an erratic clicking sound and a warning light came up on the dash telling me the front left headlight had failed. After pulling over and checking, found all four corners were working perfectly. Turned the car off and on again and the warning light had gone and click had returned to normal when indicating.

I wonder if it is a software glitch and if a return to the dealer might be needed.

Re the TPMS.

Looking good is not the point really.

?

Did you check or reset the tyre pressures when you got the car, set when cold & reset the TPMS.

Are the tyres at that same pressure when checked again when cold?

Yes I did. Once home I rechecked to individual pressures as previously set by me, all exactly the same and reset the TPMS. All were done when cold.

By looking ok at the roadside I was referring to no nails or screws embedded in any of the brand new tyres that had only done 50 miles from new. I understand the fundamentals of tire management as I have been driving all sorts of vehicles for 46 years. As evidenced I don’t believe any air loss occurred, so perhaps a sensor fault/glitch was to blame, no further problems so far.

I have had no lights or issues with mine so far after 4 weeks ownership, but to be fair i have only driven it 3 or 4 times its still only on 350 miles. Reason being i car share with the wife for work and we have been away a few weekends and not needed car.

@Legin T  If new tyres & new car / brakes then the car is being 'Driven in', as Skoda called it,  RUN IN as most of us call it.

Brakes tighter / new, so it is easy to get a bit of binding and heating of the wheels, hubs and a pressure change, or actually the tyres circumference and a warning.

Hopefully now warning will just be if a loss of pressure and not just a fluctuation.

I did consider that fact and also thought perhaps the tyre seal had been slightly compromised as we had driving in and out of our country park on a very uneven road surface, albeit very slowly avoiding potholes. So far all now has settled down.

We drove to Long Melford yesterday when the headlight/indicator fault popped up on the dash, again nothing wrong and all working correctly, I can’t really explain why. Turned car off and on again and fault cleared. If I get anymore false alerts I will check in with the dealer.

I've found that once you have got your first TPMS warning "under your belt" - and found no credible reason for it, then the next time you should still pay attention to it and check the tyre pressure, but understand that any/all these systems can throw out a "ghost" warning, better safe than sorry, I still trust that these indirect systems will give me warning of a tyre losing pressure though - so a lot better than no TPMS.

I had the TPMS warning go off now and again in the old one, checked, nothing found.

The speed sign camera took a dicky fit in the first week, read the manual, advised by manual to turn car off leave and it should reset, left it overnight and when I went to work following day was working fine and has since.

I solved the rear seat belt warning by chance, I was hoovering the back seat after the dog had been in, kneeling on the drivers side seat and forgot to plug the seat belt back in, but noticed that it was showing the seat empty and not pinging, unplugged the other two and it started to ping again. So I thought I will sit on each seat in turn and leave the seat belts unplugged, and that has cured it.

I am still waiting for the recall for the software for the airbag warning light that came on, dealer informed by Skoda it is a software fault and they are working on the fix, it is not a hardware problem.

Maybe your lights glitch is a software fault to. So much computing power in cars these days, no wonder the computer says no!

With 50k on the clock my set of All Seasons Goodyear Tyres have about 5k miles left in them. I have manage to pick up 2 slow punctures over the last 4.5 years both picked up timely by the TPMS system. I was lucky it was nails in the mid tread and were easily repaired.  With regards to electrical faults my SEL system was bordering on rubbish for the first 18 months with many temporary intermittent quirks. The car had a software update that was done over night and all problems went away (reversing camera intermittently not working was a bummer now fixed) Everything has been working great for the last 2 years. Apart from servicing and tyres no other outlays.  My 5 year extended warranty is up at the end of the year will I get another new Scala

I doubt it the price with all my current extras is getting close to 30k.

Greetings. I have had a Scala 2024 since last April, and I've seen this issue a couple of times during the past year. Indeed, it looks like a software issue to me. Lights are always fine, but the dashboard tells me to check it. Restarting the car always helps. I emailed my service about those issues, but they didn't answer me about what to do with it.

At first, I thought I could live with it. But this morning, I had issues turning my hazard lights off, which seems kinda odd to me. So, I feel like I have to do something about it before it turns into a big problem on the road.

Over the past year, I've seen a couple of anomalies, all of which look much like software issues. Maybe someone knows, is it possible to deal with them? For example, updating software at the dealer's service?

Wouldn't this be a warranty issue, let the Dealership sort it out. Being cynical they may say they have never heard of this before and perhaps offer you a £40 recharge of the 12v battery, check the battery voltage before taking it in and tell them the figure you got if they offer such. Why pay for a new car and put up with this sort of thing (which you would probably get less of or not at all on an older car).
