Front Wishbones bushes separated

Featured Replies

I have just had my 2016 VRS Estate 4x4 serviced at a dealer. They have picked up that both front wishbones have separated the fwd bushes. Bit of a surprise having had a 4 wheel alignment carried out a month ago with no problems! The dealer has quoted £247 to replace both wishbones. Seems that this may be caused by the amount of potholes around the area where I live (Cheshire). I have a question over the replacement of these about whether or not the use of Audi TT alloy wishbones would be a good idea? if so what would I need, Wishbones only or would I need to change the subframe as well? The car has only done 70.000 miles.

I have a set of superpro ones if you want. They are caster increase polyurethane. I fitted them to a superb but the arms are longer on a superb than a golf/octavia. Pop me a pm if you fancy.
they were literally on for about 200 miles then I took them off and replaced them with the correct superb arms and brought the polyIMG_9411.thumb.jpeg.3278a9dfaa39426fb3be880ad8846a0a.jpegIMG_9415.thumb.jpeg.904bfcd62a1a7b707647ac79ecc5798b.jpegIMG_9411.thumb.jpeg.3278a9dfaa39426fb3be880ad8846a0a.jpeg bushes separate

If the dealer did the wheel alignment then you should not have to pay again after fitting new parts. You can change the bushes only which imo is a better option as aftermarket arms puts the geometry out.

Had a strange noise on mine for two years, found it yesterday and now found this post. It's a press needed to change the bush only?

I don't really want to replace the whole arm. Get a Delphi bush for about £30.

30 seems a bit expensive for the bush only, you can use a hammer to do it or a vice if you know what your doing.

I'm very au fait with bushes on defenders and discoveries so I should be alright but I'm guessing a press will make it easier? I have access to one but I need to organise it. That was list price, I actually got a febi for £10 so should be good, I believe Febi are okay, I can't believe it has gone, I have old volvos that never have that problem?

Out of interest? Will I need any spline sockets to get the arm off or are they just hex or bi hex?

Thanks 👍

It is two 18mm bolts and 3 nuts for the ball joint to drop the wishbone

Thanks, I did it yesterday, easy job to remove and replace the wishbone,

The bush was a bit tricky, even with a press, the arm isn't flat and I didn't have a socket(or similar) the right size to go under the arm. So it was difficult to start it off straight. All done now with a bit of persuasion. Lol 👍👍

Hello, Im going to change wishbones in my mk3 2013/2014 octavia. 1.4 tsi 140 ps chpa. So I typed these below.

Could someone confirm that is right choice for my car ? It seems to be difference after 2014 in this car ?

One of my bushes has started creaking over bumps (2019 1.5 tsi 105k 90k taxi miles) sprayed it a couple of times with silicone spray but needs sorting

Mechanic advised it'd be more cost effective to change complete wishbone due to time involved changing bushes only

Is this right and if so where is the best place to buy a replacement as I'm guessing the £50 sets on Ebay are better avoided ?

Could anyone confirm these are the right parts for 1.5tsi 69 plate , code DPCA thanks :
