One pipe problem

Featured Replies

Hi all -  1.9 TDI from 2005 I have here...

I have noticed the back of this pipe has been worn, possibly by the plastic wire clip about 1cm away from it (can't think what else it could be).  Pictures of pipe and damage attached.

Hasn't worn through, and I have patched it for now, but I have looked and tried the pinned thread but for the life of me can't find a part number for it.

Does anyone know the number so I can get a proper replacement?  (Unless people think a patch is sufficient!)

I suspect you're looking at a pipe connecting to the exhaust recovery valve (EGR) but knowing your engine type will help narrow down the options.

Sure what other info would you need?   It's a 1.9 litre TDI as I mentioned but let me know if anything else is useful.

There are many variants of a 1.9tdi Skoda engine so the actual engine code is important.  You can find it either on a sticker in your car boot next to the spare wheel well or in your service book.

Ok engine code is BKC.   I think it might be the intercooler hose possibly.

Unfortunately someone has repaired the brake fluid low level warning wiring and it has damaged the hose. Try 1K0145838N

Cheers. I can't think when anyone would have had to do that!

Leave it patched, it'll be fine.

Well... for anyone interested, the hose seems to have been improperly replaced at some point.   The lower part (towards the front of the car) was coming loose as the metal ring had been put in backwards (so the metal teeth were not sitting in their grooves as they were pointing the wrong way) and was not securing the hose.

Ring in place properly now and the hose is tight and as there is no movement during driving, it has stopped rubbing the brake fluid wiring and is no longer wearing through (plus the small oil leak from the improperly fitted end has stopped).
