I'd love to raise some money for charity. How would I do that? 50% of all sponsorship to charity? Is that a good way to do it?

But I want to go because I want to see some more of Europe. Plus I really like driving, and I especially like driving in other countries.

Thanks guys! Don't worry their will be plenty of pictures and videos to come.

Dutch4x4 is there anything to watch out for on the Octavia's that might catch be out? Do the brakes fade a lot in the cold if I haven't got the right pads?

I thought about that actually. The car is going to have a full service' date=' including aircon service the week before I go. That gives me a weeks use to spot any problems before I go.

I like the idea of sponsorship, would be cool to have my car covered in decals for the event. But I am not sure how much people would generally pay for have their name on a car for 2 weeks, albeit over 6,000 miles.

Anywho. Once I get myself a website and forum I shall give out the address and if you are interested I shall keep it updated with information.[/quote']

Get a local newspaper to take some pics though and well you get the idea ;)

Re charity, pick a charity, ask them and then print out a form making sure you set up a seperate bank account for the event. Also any sponsorship money left over once your car is back to UK legal spec would also go to charity

Okay cool. Cancer research it is then!

While people are still reading this..

Can anyone build me a website and a forum?

Please PM me to discuss, thanks!

When do you want it for and what are you after, eg do you need a server for it to run on and bandwidth. If you do how many hits do you think you are likely to get.

One of my mates is building it for me for free! So I'm just letting him do whatever he needs.

This is also a quick bump to let other people who might not have seen it yet contribute. As any advice is needed!

With 11,821 members on this site alone, you might attract a goodly number of donations to help you on your way:)

Also, get yourself known to your local radio and/or television station once you have firmed up your plans. Contact the newsroom and have a short press release giving the details/aims/challenges to provide them with an idea of what you are up to and why. Coverage can attract sponsors!

Be sure to keep us up to date as plans develop.

That's what I was hoping!!

I thought if I give 50% of all my sponsorship money.

I need 1,200 people to donate just £5 and that will let me donate £1,500 and whats left for me will pay for my fuel, tolls, and ferrys! Leaving me to pay for the car obviously, places to sleep, russian police bribes, tyres and other stuff.

How would everyone feel if I asked for a donation of £5. Is that too much?
