Unless it's an error which can be reset by OBD, that is probably the electric struts failing, which are not cheap to replace.

Thank you, I was thinking it would be the struts, looks like a visit to see the bank manager.

Is it hatch or estate?

Mine is hatch and make a terrible creaking.

It’s the estate, not noisy, just hard to open manually. It is making the beeping noises when I press the button, an moves erratically.

If you don't want to donate a kidney to Skoda UK, the eBay copies work fine and are around £200 a pair, rather than £1,000 with VAT, fitting and coding by your friendly Skoda dealer :)

Thank you, I had a diagnostic done and it came up with the motor being at fault, booked it in at a Skoda specialist  in a couple of weeks at a cost of £260, which does seem a bit cheaper than expected.

On mine I thought it was the struts, but turned out to be the tailgate latch which has sensors in it to tell the car when the tailgate is open or closed.  When these went faulty the car didn't know if it was open or not.

Thank you, I will mention that when o go to the garage to see what they say.

It's the part of the latch contained in the tailgate in case they ask.

Thank you, anything will help, but I’m fearing the worst scenario 😬

See my post today 06/09/24 about this. I had exactly the same problem on a 2017 MY

I went to a Skoda specialist (Vasstech) and it cost me £1680 to replace the struts and motors, they did a fantastic job at a very good price using Skoda parts, and got me in for the repair quickly. I’d recommend them 👍🏾

I bought the struts from Autodoc online, £300 the pair and installed them before going to the dealer when the fault wasn't remedied
