Phone connectivity

Featured Replies

Just Taken delivery of a new Superb Estate and have discovered that my phones will not connect to the new infotainment system (it worked on the older systems). Nothing wrong with the phones but it seems to be a compatibility issue with the new infotainment system software. So far the garage cannot help and Skoda customer services have failed to provide a suitable response. Anybody else with this issue?

I havent faced any issues with an iphone 13 mini, other than it sometimes wants to use the cars hotspot as well, which doesnt have a data plan connected and gets stuck without an internet connection 😅

If you can provide a bit more details on your specific issue you may get better answers. Like what phones you tried, what actually are you trying to achieve? Cabled/wireless aauto/carplay, bluetooth, myskoda connection, etc

It might help if you'd specify the phones' brand, type and OS...

Tried all that with Skoda. For info two phones wont connect one will. The connected phone is a 218 model huaywai, The two that won't connect are an older 2017 xperia XA1 (bluetootth 4.2) and a new 2023 NokiaC32 (Bluetooth 5.2)

That's strange, I can connect an iPhone 11 and galaxy s23 at the same time.

My steering wheel controls, now that's a whole other topic... literally!

Further to the above problem, Skoda customer services have now informed me that there is a software compatibility issue (yes I knew that) but there is no prospect of an early solution to this problem.

Seems that way alright, another issue I'm finding is if I'm driving all day the Bluetooth module will shut down and disappear. I'm thinking it could be overheating or something

Skoda customer services now seem to have washed their hands of this problem blaming the issue on my phone, not the new infotainment system software. I agree there is probably nothing wrong with the software but it should surely be able to connect to any modern smart phone provided it complies with the Bluetooth version info.  In a sense I have been mis sold my car as I was not informed of a potential compatibility issue prior to buying the car. I would like to find a way past customer services, anybody got any way to do this.

Do you mean " will not connect" as does not connect to the handsfree for calling, or " will not connect" as the android auto does not work?

If it's the latter:

218 model huaywai - probbably Huawei Y9 (2018) or Huawei Y7 (2018) -  both on Android 8.0 and need the Android Auto app to have the infotainment functionality. Not wireless, so only via USB
Sony Xperia XA1 - same as before Android 8.0 and need the Android Auto app to have the infotainment functionality. Not wireless, so only via USB
Nokia C32 - Might be installed with Lite version of Android that does not have Android Auto avaliable. The app should be listed under all apps if present.

will not connect for hands free calling the car can see the phone but when trying to connect reports an incorrect pin or passkey message. Huawei phone is Y7 2018. thanks for the reply. There seems to be very little information about this issue but I cannot be the only person experiencing this problem.

Well i dont want to be negative but your phone is just too old. Just upgrade it like you upgrade your car

Is this after you have paired the phone using the pin the car sends to it or are you not receiving the pin prompt on the phone?

Receiving the pin prompt but the two pins do not match so no connection can be made. this is obviously a compatibility issue but I don't understand why it should happen. Rhetorical question, Of 3 phones we have why does one connect and two fail. It is not age related. With regards to upgrading the phone how do I chose a new phone when the compatibility list available on the Skoda website only applies to MIB2 and earlier systems. I know that most I phones and Samsung phones will work but I don't see why I should be forced to buy a new phone when the one I have works perfectly well and did so in my previous car (Scout with MIB2)

How do the pins become different if you type the pin into your phone when the car gives it?

Don't need to type the pin/passkey as they are generated by the devices I think.

Don't need to type the pin/passkey as they are generated by the devices I think. With regard to the compatibility list; it will not show options for my VIN however if I select car type and year it provides options. I don't think the new infotainment system is included in this list hence no VIN recognition.

When I connected to my enyaq  a code appeared on the dashboard, my phone asked me to input it to pair. Using the bottom one of these two options

I would go back to this and see what is currently in the system and delete any that currently don't work or are unused.

Then try again searching for the phone from the car system

Tried all that plus several other options like clearing Bluetooth date from the phone and also selecting developer mode and comparing settings to a phone that will connect but computer still says No!  The Car Bluetooth would normally generate a pin or passkey send it to the device to be paired then ask if they match or as you say, input the code and confirm, if so confirm and then pairing takes place. If they do not match, which is the case with both my XA1 and Nokia C32 then pairing cannot take place. The only thing I have not as yet been able to do is to try my Phone in a different car of the same type in order to eliminate my car from the problem (is there a problem specific to my car) I doubt that that is the issue. I am hoping to do that soon. Thanks for your efforts.

For the experia XA1

This from an experia forum. seems the phone may be trying to connect to a previously connected device that it knows the code for?

"I have been having numerous issues with Bluetooth as well. Bluetooth and Calling seem to be the biggest problems I have had with my XA1 sine I got it last month. For Bluetooth, it seems like whenever you turn it on, the first thing it wants to do is auto connect to whatever device you last had it paired to. This is extremely frustrating when you want to try and add a new device because it seems like you have to sit and wait for the phone to figure out that your previous device is unavailable. I had problems trying to connect my phone to my mom's car via Bluetooth as well. I don't think there's any real specific method for getting it to work. My recommendation would be to park yourself somewhere safe, make sure all other devices with Bluetooth enabled are turned off and just try and be patient with your XA1. Eventually you should be able to enter the pin number to connect the two devices. "

For the c32 the same problem could be happening, have you told the phones to forget the old scout?

On either of the phones if you have selected them from the car screen when it detects them, does it send a pin request to the phone do you get the opportunity to type in the pin?

I would have thought that clearing the bluetooth data in phone settings would clear everything. Carrying out that operation clears all data including WIFI and network settings  so no previous setting existed. so only the Skoda  Bluetooth would show up. I understand what you are saying I'll give it a go but think that the same will happen.

Don't look for the car with the phone.

Look for the phone with the car system and initiate the process from the car. Wait for the phone to ask for the pin

Car sends a pin but there is no opportunity to enter it. both car an phone say cannot connect, phone message is the generic incorrect pin or passkey message.
