Fabia VRS G40 implausible signal

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

Im new to the forum but have been a fabia owner for 7 years.

I fancied a vrs for a while so just purchased a 110k 2006  BLT model, it was a private sale, the gent selling it had had starting issues and changed the G40 and G28 sensor.

It has still has a long crank time but will start eventually, quicker with G40 disconnected.

I have checked the voltage to G40 plug,,,,, I   get 12v ,5v and 0v ...so i think wiring is ok???

My next step will be to change timing belt as it is due, could the timing be the problem???

New sensor is a NGK  CHC3-D025  (81024)....I assume this is correct?

Any advice welcome.

Just did timing belt and water pump, timing was ok , but who ever fitted the new camshaft sensor never located it correctly in its locating hole, this actually bent the plastic bracket and it was not picking up the camshaft signal ring consistently, fixed the bracket, the car now starts perfectly, no long cranking time, fault cleared ……..hope this helps someone.
