Tow bar difference

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a Skoda superb 2016 sedan. I want to fit a tow bar and one of my friend gave me the genuine one from a Skoda superb estate. So My question will it for from estate to sedan. Part number on it is 3v9803881a but the full set it is 3V9 092 160 D.. Anyone fitter a 3v9 092 160 D instead of 3V0 092 160 Dto a sedan? Thanks

I do not think the "hardware" part of the tow bar differs from sedan to estate. Underside the cars look identical.

As above - no difference if wagon or liftback.

There r different versions depending on the level of "bits" U get with it, such as wiring, plugs, modules etc etc.

Does ur car have Trailer Hitch Prep already? PR Code AHV.

If so, it will already have the wiring harness from the BCM sitting inside the boot, left side behind the trim.

All u have to do then is connect the towbar to the towbar module, and the module into the existing wiring harness inside the boot.

Once installed u need to do the associated coding (using VCDS or OBDEleven) to enable it all, including changes to Engine, Brake, ACC, PDC modules.

I have 1D7 preparation for towing trailer wich I presume is the same. The main difference is 3v0* vs 3v9* for estate. I presume there shouldn't be a difference as it is almost no difference between sedan and estates car base... However tried to contact a Skoda dealer and he said the same but at the same time he said then they should do 2 different model if the sedans and estates were the same... Unless it is just a marketing trick.. That's why I want to confirm maybe someone tried before the 3v9* (estate version) instead of 3v0* sedan/saloon version on a sedan/hatchback

Tried the pr decoder and doesn't recognise AHV or code you mentioned.. Unless it is a typo

Yes. Now need to make sure the 3v9* towbar will fit my sedan/saloon.

Well, while the metal part could be identical, I am sure the two prep codes, if including wiring, plugs and such, could differ as they go through different places in the cars themselves. I have done in the past OE retrofit to the towing looms for old Audis and they are different in lenght and the position of some connectors is different between sedan and wagon. Knowing ze Germans, all things that differ 0.01% get a different part no. or suffix ... I would not be too concerned, important is to get it to work!

I was thinking the same. Anyway need to buy the control unit and the trim handle wich probably will difera from saloon to estate but hope the metal part are the same.. Will let you know when done.

Just an update.. I have installed the tow bar and it is the samw for sedan/hatchbacks as for estate/combi as it fitted exactly.. Now trying to figure out the controller unit wich looksike is 5Q0907383 for most of the vag.. Hoe to find out wich one will fit my car?

I think you need to go search in ETKA, but I have not done it yet for the Superb.
