Featured Replies

You are not the first to find this but it is not common. Some other posts in this forum show similar but not recently. I think you know what to do.

I've put a new fusebox on off a car we know is all good and still the same. Feel like torching the fecker 😅 going to be without a car after weds so I need to get it sorted. The first lad who came with snap on reader is still convinced it's the cluster 🤷‍♂️ but the vcds didn't pull it as a fault

Right had the clocks checked they're OK. Autoelectrician came out this morning tested every fuse and relay all OK he bridged 2 fuses with a length of wire and got power to clocks and started the car it wouldn't turn off with key had to pull fuse. He said uts ignition switch so I've been and got one and fitted it but still the same 🤯 getting fed up of it now. Any ideas before I chop it up

FFS. "The car won't start. There are no ignition lights" These are the symptons. Not the problem. I personally would not have wasted money on getting an auto-electrician checking the cluster as it has already been proven to be working. You seem to be blind to accepting the "clocks" are fine.  From my own research it appears that because of faulty wiring or a faulty module the immobiliser is being activated. Hence no ignition lights and the car wont start.

I posted the scan in the diagnostics forum and there has been replies. You need to start understanding those replies.

As @langers2k wrote in the first reply (to the scan), I would check the can-gateway wiring and also the module itself. See here for the location:-

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/505653-canbus-gateway-location/

It does seem to be the most logical place to start.

If that does not solve the no start problem then I would check the wiring to/from these modules and also the connectors as has been suggested by other forum members.

  • Engine
  • ABS
  • AWD (All Wheel Drive)
  • Steering Assist

The engine module is in the scuttle panel, below the windscreen wipers. It's a silver box. For the locations of the others you will have to do some research.

Or ideally get the auto-electrician back and get them to do the work.

For what it's worth, there is a research paper "Cyber-Security Internals of a Skoda
Octavia vRS: A Hands on Approach" with a Skoda CANbus Overview here:-

https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Skoda-CANbus-Overview_fig1_336068161

Whilst it won't fix the car it does give some background on how the modules are related.

Do you have a scan from the car, see what modules it pics up and faults

I would say it is more an electrical issue than a clock issue.

also check your BCM, seen them get wet too. recently replaced one on a golf 6 which wouldn't start.

Hi,

@Eddie-NL There's a link to the scan below. Also, still pleased with the instrument cluster you did on my L&K earlier in the year.

I've seen @flynndog today and completed a VCDS scan.

The scan has been posted in the diagnostics sub forum here:-

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/527075-vcds-scan-whats-the-diagnosis/

Personally, I am not proficient enough with VCDS to be certain of any diagnosis. Hopefully, someone better than me can draw a conclusion. Clearly, it's not just some damp LED's.
