Amundsen map upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.

Few days ago I downloaded the latest updated map file from official Skoda site.

To avoid to modify the original SD card I also bought a new one (Kingston Micro SD 64 GB).

Then I followed the instructions available on official site (format the SD card and copy the new file).

When I insert the new SD in my Skoda the result is an error message " Error SD - no file map found".

But if I compare the original one with my new SD, the files are exactly the same.

Of course when I replace the original one all works properly.

Somebody knows what is the problem?

Thanks

What infotainment system do you have? suspect it's MIB2.

Are you certain the card is formatted correctly? for maps, the MIB2 requires correct card - normally a Skoda branded one.

Somewhere in my memory, I recall maximum SD card size allowed is 32gb.

It should be MIB2.

As per below it seems that SD larger are acceptable.

What is the difference between a Skoda branded cars and my new SD?

That's the problem, the Amundsen REQUIRES a Skoda (in fact any VAG branded) SD card as it has a special embedded code that isn't present on a 'normal' SD card.

Skoda SD cards are available on a well known auction site at prices well below the official dealer price, I've boight all my Skoda SD cards from there!

My limited understanding is that it is something to do with the compartmentalisation of the card.

Hi PetrolDave

can you provide the link?

Thanks

In any case since in the manual they suggest to format the card, it is strange that there are embedded codes.

Could be a hardware lock?

original(same as cloned) SD has specified hardware id number, which isn't touched at format/erase procedure
