Superb 3V facelift - heated steering wheel...

Featured Replies

Just an off-chance question if one of the whizzkids on here have any ideas:

My heated steering wheel doesn't work, hasn't for a couple of years. Press the button and nothing happens. Checked fuse and all good. Took it to Skoda when still under warranty and the tech said the system was showing a temp which meant the system was not turning on because it was automatically cutting-off. Changed steering wheel under warranty and still no change. He said that he could escalate to Skoda HQ but if I was mucking about with VCDS and the logs showed, then Skoda could opt not to change under warranty and then I'd be on the hook for the wheel and the time cost. Fair enough so we left it.

But I was thinking...whilst mucking about a couple of years ago, on VCDS to activate various things, I'm fairly sure on a longcoding screen in Central Electronics I spotted something about the steering wheel type...and possibly changed something that I thought was logical but may have inadvertently meant the system isn't looked for a heated steering wheel function etc.

The question is - does anyone happen to have an idea what areas I may have messed? Cocky me decided not to backup before undertaking changes 🤦‍♂️

Ok so more playing about resolved!

Byte 14

Bit 6-7 seems to the type of steering wheel which I’d changed inadvertently. Changed from

00 Heated_steering_wheel_version, not active

to

80 Heated_steering_wheel_version,LRH_Gen_2_mod

Thank god for that. There are other Bytes referring to the type of steering wheel heating. Has to be set to Installed, Multi-Level, and the auto setting not activated.

Phew!
