Strange Issues!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

So... First start in sub zero temperatures brings a new issue! Half way on my drive to work the glow plug light begins flashing and the dash says 'engine fault workshop'... Do some digging and notice that some people have mentioned brake lights being the issue, my friend drives behind me tonight and tells me it's only the top tail light illuminating and the ones in the rear light cluster aren't lighting, surely both bulbs can't have gone at the same time?

Please help!!

Ok, what you say is correct, but your diagnosis is wrong.

What you need is a new genuine brake light switch.

Are you certain that one bulb had not failed before this?

Anyway, checking bulbs and if failed changing them would be my approach.

Quite possable but one of the main faults with the rear lights are the corroded connections to the cluster, mainly caused by broken felt type seal that's behing the whole plastic light cluster, that allows damp into the area and can cause a bulb blow,  theae clusters some times come out easy but can be a real pain there is a large plastic screw in the centre of eackh cluster that has to come out it's then a matter of wiggling and rattling the unit out there is a clasp type grip right at the top of the light there is no fixing screw but is pushed in to a type od clip so pulling it out is hard but it will come out, you can then check all the bulbs and connections make sure that the earth wire is doing t's job I found silcon grease a benifit when putting it vack helped to seal the light plus kept the gasket in place

Thank you for all your replies, turns out both brake light bulbs had blown, once replaced, glow plug light stops and message disappears!
