Help needed to change car skin

Featured Replies

Anyone know how I can change the car variant/skin on my Columbus MIB2.5 infotainment from a facelift Superb (top pic) to a pre-facelift Superb (bottom pic)?

I have a MY17 Superb which I  recently did a conversion from MIB2 8" Columbus unit to MIB2.5 9.2" Columbus - as a result, the car shown on the infotainment screen is now a facelift Superb.

I want to change this back to a pre-facelift Superb.

The OCD in me is twitching everytime I see the screen!!

I know MY18 and MY19 pre-facelift Superb came with MIB2.5 units, so it's a thing and not something different.

Any help or advice would b much appreciated.

Thank u.

I would be surprised if the MIB2.5 firmware had graphics for the pre-FL as I don't think it's an official combo...

Pretty sure you can extract the graphics from the MIB2 using MIB2 toolkit and then insert it into the MIB2.5 :)

What is the firmware version of the MIB2.5 unit?

@langers2k - MY18 & MY19 are pre-facelift Superbs that came with MIB2.5 units from factory, so yes, it is an official combo.

when Skoda switched to the facelift towards the end of MY19 onwards - the image was changed to a facelift version.

@Waylon - i'm currently running MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526_1 MU 1440.

from the little i can find on Google, these are the codes (associated to 5F long coding):-

- 038401 = Superb Sedan Liftback
- 037901 = unknown???
- 038401 = Superb Sedan
- 038402 = Superb Combi

currently mine is set to 038401

byte 0 = brand

byte 1 = car class/generation

byte 2 = car derivate/derivate_supplement

This version can meet your requirements for details.

You and I have the opposite needs.

@Waylon - so 1382 is the last MIB2.5 firmware to contain the pre-facelift images?

Dang-na-mit.

I don't trust myself with the MIBToolkit.

Guess I'll just have to live with FL image.......

Yes, I have another one, its firmware version is 1382

MI2 toolbox has a lot of functions, I will try it out when I have time

Unfortunately no.

I haven't been able to figure it out, nor has anyone been able to help.

I've learnt to live with the eye twitch every time I look at the Vehicle Info screen.....

Crazy... think I've got the image with latest update.. kinda silly but not big deal, maybe someone with nonFL model can give us first 3 byte of 5F long coding string to compare with ours. Main is 03 84 02

  • Author

agreed, that would b ideal - someone with a non-FL MY18 or MY19.

after i did the MIB2.5 upgrade, my 5F long coding starts with 038401.

weirdly, before i did the upgrade, it was also 038401.

confusing big time!!!

which leads me to think the info is stored elsewhere, somewhere, but i can't figure out where.
nothing on the internet seems to help with resolving this case.

i'm guessing urs is 02 at the end cause u have a Wagon/Estate?
mine a sedan/saloon.

Correct 3rd 02 estate version

So I had another look at the coding again.

Comparing mine to an MY18, the first 6 codes r the same, i.e. 038401.

But I noticed Byte 17 and 18 r also related to the Skin and Screen.

Prior to me doing the MIB2.5 upgrade, byte 18 was set to "00".

Post the upgrade, it changed to "03".

Perhaps if I change this back to "00" it might revert it to the Pre-facelift image.

Will try it some time in the next few days and report back.

Everything can be done/changed. But honestly, I don't remember all the details... I can send you a link to the instructions, but they're in Russian.

The image was adjusted to match the car's appearance.

Nope, too complicated to do all that and most likely I'll stuff something up and brick the unit.

I'm not comfortable doing that.

@pab567 sir, can you help here?
