The software allowed me to change the capacity to 70 AH, the manufacturer to Exide and I gave it a different serial number,

Did it also allow you to view and edit battery type e.g. EFB, AGM (Fleece) etc  ?

Thinking about it - I don’t think it did. If I recall it only had fields for the capacity, the manufacturer and the serial number. I’ll check that when I get a moment tomorrow, just in case I’ve misremembered that.

When subscribing to the Carista app take note that it will attempt to set up a reoccurring payment. I bought the special offer (year for about £25), when I checked ny Apple Pay account it had established an automatic annual renewal at £60. I’ve cancelled that, but it would have been quite easy to miss it.

This is sharp practice by Carista - one often employed by insurance companies and the like.

I have both vcds unlimited hex-v2 and obd11 nextgen pro plan. I recommend both. They do all that is needed for a VAG, Skoda, audi. Obd11 is my go to due to size

and was surprised that the Stop/Start system has fixed itself.

First clue that the battery is low.

The stop start wont work if the battery is poor / low.

Thanks. AG Falco

I’m really pleased I got the battery before this cold snap, I think the original battery would have struggled in this weather.

I have a 2009 Superb 1.8TSI. It's about time to replace the battery. Anyone knows if it should run on a lead-acid or AGM battery, assuming that year production would not have the start stop system? thank you.

I would look at what battery was already fitted

Unless your vehicle is fitted with Stop-Start, a normal, flooded lead-acid battery is usual. There can however be advantages in fitting an EFB or EFB+ battery for improved performance and life.

I doubt mine has the stop start technology.  I will read more about the benefits of the EFB ones. Appreciated.
