Service Question

Featured Replies

My car is due a service shortly. If I do a DIY service with the correct oil and filters will that void my warranty or do I have to get the dealer or reputable garage to do this.

If I do this  DIY how would I keep a record of services to show if I want to sell.

   Cheers for any replies

Your profile shows a 64 plate Insignia, but you're asking in the 2020> Octavia forum?

What age of car and is it an Interim Service between the Required Variable / Flexible Services?

What are you doing more than changing the Oil & Filters.

If the car is in the Manufacturers Warranty period then Serviced with the Correct Fluids & Consumables and a record of this and done by a VAT Registered person / Establishment.  NO PLACE DO THEY SAY THAT...

Garage / Mechanic,  not Plumber / Electrician.

To the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, Advised, Specification, Schedule.    *If only they were clear about that and Service Desk staff knew,*

Read the Warranty T&C,s.

I am asking in the octavia forum because I have a 2024 Octavia.

I just forgot to change my profile.

@andypandy1961  What engine and gearbox has it and what service is coming up?

Was the Service indicator reset to fixed servicing and 9,400 miles / 372 days, changed from variable 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles, or is it a PHEV? (Fixed Oil & filter changes.)

EDIT.

I see now a 1.5 TSI.   So is it a MHEV ?

Has the instruction to "get out of the vehicle" been there for previous generations of updates, or is this new to 1985?

Please ignore last post from me.

I don't know what happened.

@andypandy1961  Has your car been put on Fixed Regime servicing so just an Oil & Filter service due soon?

  • Author

I'm sure it's on fixed regime 9400 mls or 372 days.

  • 2 weeks later...

Do I get this changed from fixed service to variable service.

This car is a manual petrol.

I phoned Skoda dealer this morning about my car could get Changed  from fixed to variable service.

I was first told f it was longlife oil that it takes then it is a 20,000 mile

service if not then 10,000 miles.

He checked the registration and told me it is every 10,000 mls.

So why can't they use long life oil in the cars first service which is due shortly and then change to the 20,000 ml service.

I think there at it to get more money.

What do you think.
