Dual window switches for driver retrofit

Featured Replies

Hello all, hopefully everyone is doing well.

I am just wondering how I could go about fitting dual window switches to my 2013 Škoda Citigo Sport? Mine comes with only one switch per side, and so I can't open the passenger window from the driver side.

Ideally, I'd want switches with the "one-touch facility", but the ones that I've found that I would guess to be compatible come from the VW up!, leaving me unsure whether they will have such a function.

In any case, how would I go about retrofitting these switches to my car? I understand that I'd have to rewire some stuff and run a wire to the opposite side of the car, but is that it? How much time should I set aside for this and what kind of tools would I need?

I don't think any Up/Citigo/Mii had one-touch window capability.

Unless someone has fitted the L+R switch panel to the driver's side on a 2013, and can confirm, it's possible that the wiring may not exist to the door handle...
IIWM, I'd pop the existing switch out and look at the connectors and wiring, especially before spending money....

Hi, thanks for your quick response.

I doubt that there is existing wiring to the door handle from the left side of the car. However, I'd be willing to run a wire from the switch to the other side of the car if necessary. If so, would any insulated copper wire suffice? Do I need to ground this switch, or can I just run the one wire?

The car needs the anti trap sensors fitted to the electric windows for this as well, if they are available!

added 'available' bit.

It's probably a cost-saving thing all round (trap sensors, one-touch, wiring).
While running a wire from a new switch on the driver's side may work, I'd doubt it - I think the windows are controlled via signalling to the BCM.

If this is the case, could I intercept the wire running from the left switch to the BCM, and then either wire would activate the left window?

I guess I'll sack off the "one-touch" bit then! 😂

I'm not quite at that skill level just yet.

Possibly, but you'd need to know where to link it to, and you'd need to know that your BCM version supported this...
It can probably all be found out, but the Up! forum is way better on technical details....

Thank you very much for your help, I'll keep this post updated with how I get on.

It was successfully retrofitted => https://forum.skodahome.cz/topic/132630-stahov%C3%A1n%C3%AD-oken-citigo/

My understanding is:

Cable (2 or 3 lines in some versions) needs to be routed between the doors. Old driver's side single-controller has 6pin connector, passenger side 4pin connector. The dual version has 8pin on driver side +6pin on passenger side => so the new controllers necessary both for the driver + passenger. And new 8pin connector for the driver. The old 6pin from the driver can go to the new passenger version.
