It’s very common, mines has done it from day 1 (I’ve had my MK2 for 4 weeks).

There is or soon will be a software update to fix it.

It’s not a problem to me as I don’t use the Skoda satnav - Googlemaps and Waze via CarPlay are far superior so even if I could get the maps to load on my dash, I wouldn’t be using it anyway.

My maps load up just fine. However, like Plobber I use google maps so they're pointless.

Yes, I have the identical problem, from the moment I picked up the car (18th Feb 2025) .  I am told by the dealer that they know the problem and there is no fix at moment and they have logged my car on the system waiting for a software upgrade.  I am told it affect around 1 in 25 cars

I have the same issue. Told by dealer that I am on a list and will be updated when there is a fix. Haven’t heard anything from dealer in months.

I have the same issue, but am happy to wait for the update, as I tend to rely mainly on voice instructions and only use the main screen map for junctions I’m not sure about

Update from my dealer

Good Afternoon Mr Henson,

Our team has made contact with Skoda for an update. They have told us that there is a software update and that it is currently in testing. We have been advised not to do any updates until we get further instructions.

I will keep monitoring the situation and let you know as I know more.

I have had an email from my dealer and it seems there is a software fix for the map issue. The update will sort the map issue and a number of other glitches at the same time. I’ve been told it’s going to be a 3-4hr install. I have the car booked in for the cruise control recall fix in early July and they are going to sort the update at the same time.

Same here but came through the infotainment system. (94EW service campaign?) Car booked in early July hopefully will sort the map out...

I had the 94EW pop up a few weeks ago and was told it was in relation to swapping out a part of the cruise control stick. At the time I asked if they had an update to the map and they said no. The dealer emailed today ref the software update for the maps.

mmm I wonder if Ill get lucky and get both fixes?

mine was in 2 weeks ago to fix the 94EW I asked about the update and they said it wasn't available then :S

I'm hoping S-update will fix in the in dash map... 🤞

Service will look at it tomorrow hopefully update is available for this map issue

I have my Kodiaq back from the dealers. After an 8hr software update that dealt with the map issue and the 12v PHEV discharge issue the vehicle is back! The maps on the dashboard are now working!

Australian dealer couldn't fix it (yet)

They said it appears to be issue with launch edition only from what they could tell. Standard models working fine.

FYI launch edition had extras thrown in meaning car was FULLY optioned

mmm yeah this morning they said they probably wouldnt update the software as the dealer had seen some issues... how hum...

The one issue with Skoda cars I have is the infotainment system.  I have a 2020 Karoq rather than a Kodiak

I believe  the control units  rely  on a sim card  for regular updates , which often mean the system becomes Un operational for 24 hours or longer as it attempts or performs an update .

My theory is since we don't have a good  mobile signal here in rural Devon , the system does the updates when we drive to the  South East. The reset  and unavailability of the system  usually happens about two hours into the journey.

On the last trip to maidenhead the system failed again whilst doing an update . I thought I had disabled updates unless asked but it still had an issue.

This time the system hasn't reset and I wasnt able to reboot or reset the system.

I took it to the Skoda main  dealer in Exeter yesterday who also weren't able to get the system to reset.

They were helpful  but it seems like they are unable to wipe the software and try reloading the system .

There are apparently two control units the MIB and the SOS and they dont know which is the problem . I was charged £225 to investigate the issue without a resolution.

If I understand the quote correctly,  the dealer  has quoted £225 labour plus £1303 to replace the two units and I believe aren't able to  guarantee this will solve the issue.

Their  proposed solution  is  for me to spend the  £1,528 , hope that provides a solution and then pay £38 a month for an all inclusive  service plan that would cover a  future potential  failure. It is apparently possible a replacement of the SOS unit will resolve the issue at a lower cost but nothing seems certain.

The technician acknowledged it is a wide problem with Skoda cars  . The VW units are apparently  easier to reset  and reprogram than Skoda . I think I understood they can only try to reset Skoda systems using an SD card . The technician seemed knowledgeable , helpful and was keen to explain what he did . He couldn't get a screen setting that was able to request a reset. The screen showed  the necessary  screen for a split second  and didnt allow commands to be entered .  My suggestion would be to make sure you have a fully inclusive maintenance programme costing £38 a month once the warranty expires

I do think all these digital displays and dash mounted tablets in all cars are a 2nd hand nightmare waiting to happen. What happens in 12 years when the tech is obsolete and no replacements are available and your digital cockpit dies? Throw the car away?

I love the digital tech but think its fragile in all cars. (Aston Martin Lagonda CRT for a history lesson?! https://www.jalopnik.com/the-aston-martin-lagonda-was-a-technological-marvel-1842918144/ )

I’ve just been given a 25 plate Kodiaq Sportline to use by the dealer and map view isn’t working in this either. My own Kodiaq bought new in Nov is in for another tech issue which so far there’s no solution for. Škoda are apparently working on developing one but I’m not thrilled

what the other issue your car is in for? the ACC recall or something else?

It was in for another recall they announced when I arrived but not sure which recall. The main issue is the unreliable Infotainment system , which has constantly failed when trying to do a software update (or so I believe).

I asked about the fix and it's literally the button in the stalk that may not be stable

Dealer said the BUTTON you depress to activate the ACC is being replaced as it can get sticky and not bounce back into place or something like that

So nothing serious from sounds of it

It’s a fault where every time the car is started a warning comes on ‘proactive occupant protective system is restricted’. The ACC recall was done then this happened. 3 weeks and they’re trying to find a solution
