12v socket in boot not connected

Featured Replies

The 12v socket in the boot wasn't working, when I eventually got it out I found it had no cables attached. I can't see any loose cables behind it, although they may have dropped down. Can anyone tell me if they are part of a wiring loom if so where does it run from? Or is it a separate cable and is there a chance it was missed off during manufacturing?

I’m not a paid-up FREEDOM member anymore and so Briskoda prefer to make it more difficult to help. I can therefore not post images.

However, this eBay listing includes several photos of a genuine VAG part. There are a couple of spade connectors on the end of the socket itself, if there is no socket attached to them on your car, then presumably it’s dropped off and is down at boot base level somewhere…

The workshop manual suggests there's a tail, see below

However part 1K0919309 (which is the correct number I think) does not come with a tail. There are images that includes one, but in those cases it can be seen that the spade connector is attached directly to the part and seems to be for illustrative purposes only.

Given that the spade connector should lock in place, it seems highly unlikely that it would fall out of its own accord, so I suspect it's either been disconnected at some point and not reconnected, or was never connected during manufacture.

I have the Circuit Diagram manual but it's vast, and doesn't appear to be indexed, but I'll spend a little while trying to see if if there is a wiring diagram for that area.

Did you take the trim panel off to remove the 12v socket (as the manual states) ?  If so any disconnected cable should be apparent. If you didn't, but would like to, I can attach the relevant pages from the manual, but it's not trivial, and strangely makes no reference to the 12v socket.

Thanks Simon, that's really useful. I attempted to remove the trim panel but gave up as I discovered it wasn't trivial as you say! I managed through luck and brute force to remove the socket by unscrewing it without too much damage and recovered the pieces through the vent hatch which comes off easily. It was already slightly damaged in that area where the previous owner may have done the same to attempt to fix the issue. I can't see any cables and have tried both an endoscope and fishing with an extending magnet to find any loose cables or plugs. The socket has three blade connectors on the rear so could either be a plug or loose cables. Instructions on removing the trim panels would be very useful, I can see I would need to start with a section of the roof/side panel that overlaps. I've tried and failed to remove the rectangular cover to the side of the 12v socket that should give access, I'm not sure of it's purpose but it seems very hard to remove even though it moves slightly. Thanks for everyone's help.

I cannot recall having a rear power socket or boot lights in any of my Skoda most have been top models,

Assuming you’re in the UK a 12V cigarette lighter style socket has been standard in the Kodiaq since its launch in 2017. As has a boot light.

I had a cool box that I bought to run in the boot of my first Yeti

but I couldn't as there was no plug I may be a little mixed up

but there was no plug or a light that was not connected or a

variation of this a plug but not connected but a light that was.

A follow up to this post. A few quid on eBay prise tools and on the first nice day I had some free time, happy to report a quick success. The interior panel around the rear seatbelt came away without damage, four (or five?) screws out of the side panel gave me access to the cables and sure enough there's the culprit. A loose cable with a white plug on the end. I'm guessing it was missed in the factory, either that or someone's been in here previously and failed to put it back correctly. Anyway, plugged in, powers on and back together in about 25 min. Thanks again for the suggestions especially to SimonB68. 👍🏻
