Featured Replies

Hi all, What you saying?

My Skoda Octavia 2018 done 110k milage, done 80k of them in the last 2 years alone Replace Cambelt or Not?

Apparently Water pump is other side of engine and runs on separate belt

You don't tell us what engine you have so it's impossible to confirm or deny that statement.

I'd replace it if you were wanting to keep your car, considering the mileage you are covering. I've covered 70k now within my Octavia with the same engine as yours, still original timing belt.

If you do decide to change it using a main dealer, ring around, I had one quote me as low as £500 all in to change one on my last 1.5tsi ACT, just over a year ago now. North East England area.

@Phoenixboy   Did you take them up on that offer and did they honour the quote on the job that someone obviously did not know what was involved?

No, I bought an estate instead. Another Skoda dealer offered to do it for just over £700, but it was a year ago now.

Skoda dealer quote £968 fitted, Parts £200 so the Labour is £768 WTF? You'd atleast want a happy ending for that price 😆Anyway getting it done there, not worth the car blowing up

6.5 hours and VAT.

For others looking,

Be sure that the quote and work being done is just the Cambelt @ tensioners.

Those getting the £1,100-£1,250 prices need to check they are not going by Cambelt and Water Pump, £200-£250 parts.

Plenty just traded in cars because no way at 5 years were they paying the cost given, and a oil & inspection Service, Extended Scope, Brake fluid and probably up-sold Brakes required and AC service.  £2,500 sort of money.
