Fabia VRS "Swimming Pool"

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Bought a new VRS from Queensborough Skoda in Glasgow on 24-06-06.

After heavy rain the rear offside passenger footwell resembles a swimming pool. Have spoken to a guy at Skoda who has said there was a problem with leaking door panels on some older Fabia models but it was less of an issue with newer models.

Has anyone out there had any problems with water getting into their car via faulty door panels?

Regards .... Neil

Unfortunately, I think you'll find this is a common fault! Try a search on the site as it has come up many times.

yep common problem with the fabias, took them 2 goes to fix the rear passenger door and 4 goes to fix the driver door. Get it booked in to be fixed, it involves resealing inside the door panel.

i have just fixed this problem on both my rear doors if your garage is going to charge you for the work you could do it yourself for £20. i used the guide in the guides & how to's section on the left hand side of the screen and it was £20 for the sealing cord from skoda

neil, get back into queensborough!

was it brand new or a used?

i have found them to be the most helpful people about, always going out their way to help and book in me car at uber short notice and have it ready super quick both for servicing and the small fault i had with mine.

pereservere, they seem decent enough people!

Hi Niall,

It was 15 days old and had done a whopping 711 miles!!!

I think Skoda are breaking the trade descriptions act, they are still handing Fabia'a to dealers with known faults, this issue seems to have been happening for quite some time now. Not what you would expect from the VAG.

Have told told Queensborough that I want a new VRS or I'll escalate to trading standards. I don't think that's unreasonable considering the timescales involved.

Good for you. Go for it. Good luck. You are well within your rights on this:thumbup:

700 miles in 2 weeks? good effort... quite right bout new un. i take it the dealers are more than happy with this? seems to be the 2006 cars are pigs what with the stuttering an all. my 05 only had dodgy filler cap and groaning clutch/engine mount. thank christ i didnt buy a new un, seems like a nightmare!
