Sportline TDI exhaust upgrade?

Featured Replies

that chrome strip, the lack of tailpipes, it's starting to bug me. i didn't think i'd be too bothered by the whole fake exhaust/no visible exhaust fashion but after living with the car for a while i want to change it. Even Audi has a new selling point of "genuine exhausts" for the A4 A5 so hopefully that craze is coming to an end soon. Now obviously, that objectively silly looking rear trim means i can't simply go down the custom exhaust fabricator and have a nice stainless backbox installed with some custom tips, so i was wondering if anyone has done anything, or has any advice? it's looks like any option will require swapping out the lower rear bumper trim with the RS one, but will the part even fit?

would my options be limited to;

The expensive option - getting an RS diffuser/trim (£158), the tail pipe trims (£140x2) the tailpipe trim hangers (£70x2), and a VRS backbox (£350 probably second hand off ebay) - total of £928

The slightly less expensive option - getting an RS diffuser/trim (£158), custom back box with twin tails (£500-£700) - total £658-£858)

i'd rather not bodge the current rear trim by hacking into it like Leather Face when he sees a group of horny teen virgins and blacking out whatever remained of the chrome as i think that would be quite difficult to make look right.
