I assume this applies only to facelifted Mark 4.5 cars. Certain VAG models with the EA888 evo4 have what is described as the “emotive” start up procedure as an option. I know it applies to 8.5 Golf GTI & R and also the Cupra Formentor with the 333PS engine. 
 

I hadn’t heard anything about it and Skoda so gave it a try and hey presto it works!

 

For the normal start as you know, you depress the brake pedal and push the start button.

 

For emotive start you do the opposite. You press and hold the start button for a second or so then put your foot on the brake pedal. Emotive start will occur with revs flaring to 2,500rpm and a few exhaust pops and burbles as it settles down to idle. Ita a bit silly but fun to try now and again. 

It is called 'Emotion start'.
