Hi guys!!! I've got 2024 Skoda octavia restyling. I've got a question... When I'm stopped, I men when my car is in "P" but the engine is running, there's a notification each 15 minutes - "vehicle ready to drive. switch off the ignition before leaving the vehicle "... the notification comes when engine is running, and that horrible notification sounds five times. I can't switch off the ignition because of my job... is it possible to turn off the notification? Help me please. I rely need that.

Not that I know of but I’m new to Skoda. Maybe as a work around you could try putting the car in neutral N and applying the parking brake and you won’t get the same warning?

You can try the sound settings. If I remember correctly there is a setting for the volume of notification messages. But I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for your reply.... I've tried but it doesn't work 😕😔😞

@Haki888  Welcome.

Just being nosy / curious, but what engine is it that you are sitting with ticking over, and for how long at any onetime?

Exactly what model Octavia do you have - engine size, is it hybrid?

Why doesn't start/stop turn off the engine when you are stopped?

I've got 1.4 Octavia, not hybrid...... When I turn off the "A" button - start-stop button - from menu, engine turns off, but I need engine to work. I have night shift work and time to time I sleep in the car. It's really uncomfortable when notification comes. I woke up every time. That's why I need to turn off that.

Not sure what you need the engine on for but can you power whatever you are running from an auxiliary battery?

Idling for long periods probably not so good for the engine?

What happens if you turn it off for say 1 hr and sleep then start back up to recharge/warm cabin.

Die in your sleep from hypothermia?

Sleeping during the night shift is the original working (not) from home 😄

I created an account just for this. I have the same problem on a 2025 4x4 Kodiaq! No need for you guys to know WHY we need to deactivate the sound (at least) for this, we just do. There are plenty of different jobs people do and plenty of reasons why this chime is annoying (e.g it chimes while im in a meeting). The car is stationary, the engine is running, gearbox either in P or N, handbrake is on. Do you know if this can be deactivated (at least the sound/chime)?

No idea but he first thing is try is leaving your seatbelt on. The warning is clearly designed to warn about leaving the car with the engine still running.

I have yet to find a way to disable it in my Superb. It is annoying and sometimes even does it immediately after restarting the engine following the previous journey (if prolonged idling was carried out before switching off). Seatbelt on/off unfortunately makes no difference.

if you leave the engine running while stationary, there is a real chance you could overheat the catalytic converter due to a lack of cooling air flow over the converter

I hope you have a CO monitor

The catalytic converter converts CO to CO2. Almost impossible to have an issue inside the car without a serious malfunction.

So you would need a CO2 monitor then

Depends if you worry about things that aren’t important. There is a reason the exhaust goes outside the the car rather than into the cabin.

I wouldn't consider life un-important

Depending upon the wind it could be hanging around underneath and around the car. Doesn't need much to get in an enclosed space especially being warmer than the air above due to the heat from the exhaust.

Neither is it good for the environment, a good sleeping bag would be a better option.

If he melts the cat or causes a fire under the car, depending on what he parks over I would consider that being important
