Are there any outfits like that in the south east?

I suspect every engine will be slightly different with some a little below and some a little above the standard outputs

I would bet that 197 (this is the quoted output, right?) is a minimum value. If people do the above and find they're running at 190, VAG are not gonna want the hassle and potential bad press regarding their 2.0TFSi. Quote a minimum, everyone is at least satisfied that the car performs as expected and some people will be very happy when they find they have a few free horsies :)

I guess this would be common practise regardless of marque. Imagine if a Focus ST170 put out 165 or a Megane 225 put out "only" 215. The horror!!

Surely manufacturing tolerances in a plant as advanced as the Skoda one will not be big enough to allow a 10-15bhp variation in cars?! The main problem with measuring the cars on a rolling road is that you are measuring the engine horse power by "guessing" it from the wheel horse power. Skoda/VW will have benchmarked the engine on an engine dyno which measure horsepower and torque directly at the fly wheel....

THIS 2.0L TDI

I gathered it has 197bhp.. but how much torque does it have? like 300+?

7.65 secs to sicty standard is pritty good. How much will they cost - like 22k?

The TFSI has 197bhp (petrol)

The 2.0 TDI has 140bhp (the new one has 170bhp)

HTH :D

Chris

How Much Torque does it have?

6 speed I presume?

I have no idea what engineering tolerances are allowed at VAG, or any other manufacturer.

I am sure there *will* be tolerances and I have read at least 1 comparitive review whereby the author (hopefully with more knowledge than me!) put down unexpected performance results to potential engineering tolerances. I would not expect such tolerances to be real-world noticable, personally, but there you go.

There is bound to be! A quick search of the forum should give a start. It's great to watch!

Golf 170ps diesel has 258 lbs.ft / 350 Nm according to vw.co.uk (unless I read the wrong spec!!!)

I rekon with a remap she could get 250 bhp and 350 ft lbs .. ;)

What do you guys think?

The link above could answer some questions.(sry u need to paste it :()

I would bet, that the fuel used in tfsi-motor has quite a lot to do with the dyno

The problem with rolling roads is that they are only accurate if you set them up perfectly for each individual car and calibrate them after each run. On rolling road days this is not usually done because of the time involved in doing all this.

And if they are going to read inaccurately then the rolling road owner would be daft not to have it reading high. By having it reading high he will go away with lots of satisfied customers who will spread the word and others will be wanting to go.

Oh look ....... :D

I agree, the place I used are a long established firm who bo lots of development workon caterham 7's. A powergraph usually takes them 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour to do. As you said there is a lot of setting up beforehand. In this case they did 3 runs and I was able to compair them before printing off the best (virtually no difference!). As earlier pointed out the fuel was 98RON. Never use anything else!

Over the years I have tried many different places, but always came back to these guys!:D Once you have found a good spot it's better to stick to them, there is no advantage in touring round places as you just end up getting different power graphs!! And it all becomes meaningless!

Always worth getting one done before doing any mods, just use it as a benchmark to work from! :D

Would be costly though once you upgrade the brakes, clutch and maybe even the gearbox to handle the extra bhp & torque.
