2024 Kamiq Screen Reboot Randomly (no solution from SKODA)

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just bought a 2024 Kamiq last thursday (6 March 2025) (registered in March 2024) for a local approved dealer (UK). There is still a two year period manufacturer warranty to Mar 2027 which I bought with a peace of mind. Have test drive for around 10-15 minutes and found no problem about the car. The first day drive bought the car, after the first 20 minutes, the car display/screen will reboot automatically every 10-15 minutes (whether it was connected to the phone or whether it was connected to either Andriod / Iphone). The display will reboot randomly even if it is just idle (i.e. only showing the clock).

Have emailed the dealer immediately the day and salesperson ask me to send back the car for them to check. Have visited the dealer yesterday (10 March 2025). Told me that it was the software issue from Skoda and they(the dealer) or Skoda has no solution currently for this fault. And asked me to wait for the software update.

Today (11 March 2025) I have tried to contact Skoda customer services myself seeking their help to fix the faulty screen problem in their web chat box. The CS of the SKODA replied me

"I am very sorry to hear that your vehicle's screen randomly reboots. I understand that you would not expect the vehicle to have this issue just after purchasing. Our Service Teams are best trained to work with these issues, and we apologise to hear that there is no fix at the moment for the software issue. We suggest that you keep checking with the retailer to see if an update for the software is available yet."

I insisted that this car was registered around one year, this is not a new car. They should have found the solution to fix it. and they further replied me

"I definitely understand your concern, and I do apologise for the inconvenience. We aim to provide the best services possible. Our team is aware of the issue and is working on a resolution, but at the moment, there is no fix."

Should I expect a 2024 Kamiq with non-stop screen rebooting from Skoda which was under their warranty. Any advise ? Do they really have no solution to fix it ?

Thank you very much.

Dont worry, About 98% of us have this problem. The infotainment system on a lot of Audi/VW cars is a pain. Only thing i can say is when it happens press and hold the on/off for about 10 seconds and the system reboots itself.. But keep on at the dealer where you bought the car, They are responsible for getting the software fix done.. I thought they had fixed this on newer cars, But obviously not...

This can happen a lot.

Doofy is right software issues bug a lot of VAG group cars. When the software works it works quite well.

Dealers do not seem to like to do software updates despite the fact they are obliged to do so. They should check each time the car goes for service but they don't. It'll tell you in the handbook that the dealer should take care of it. I don't know if it's a training issue or the fact it's not chargeable work but you have to insist and get past the "we can't as our computer is down" excuse.

Your problem could be connected with a failed update that the previous owner attempted or it could be caused by the car not being properly deregistered from the pervious owners My Skoda account. Perversely it could also be caused by the car not being properly registered to Your My Skoda app.

I could write on this a lot more but best if you tell us which infotainment system your car has. The handbook should give you a clue and you can find a copy on this site or on the Skoda web site if the paper copy has gone missing.

One thing to check is you are not in any sort of privacy or semi privacy mode. Some updates come OTA and may not install correctly.

Of course as with all things computer just turning it off, waiting 5 minutes and turning it on might work. (i.e. re-boot the infotainment by turning it completely off with the button, turning off the ignition does not turn off the infotainment it just put it to sleep.)
