Boot locking Problem

Featured Replies

Good Evening All,

I own a 18 plate SportLine which I love, but today, my boot failed to open.

When I say failed to open, it will not unlock via the normal “click” of the remote. I don’t have the button by the gear lever.

In addition, pushing the button under the tailgate doesn’t do anything.

HOWEVER, if I hold down the boot button on the remote for about 10s, a thunk occurs and I can lift the boot lid. There is no normal pop and slight raising of boot lid as normal; just thunk.

Once lifted, I can activate the lock by pushing into it with a screwdriver and again, a 10s hold on the remote will make it flick out.

So, is the micro switch in the boot handle gone and need replacing? Given it opens with a long hold, I am guessing it’s not the motor mechanism or wiring fault but instead a switch in the boot lid handle?

If so, what part do I need?

Thank you in advance.

Your best bet is to dismantle what you got now to get the part number, ring up your local dealership and ask for the parts department

Then put it back so your car is functional still

Tell them your current part number and they’ll say if there’s a revised part and order

Also, get a fault scan if you can!
