Rust on door sill

Featured Replies

Good evening I have a 2018 Scout and have recently found some rust/bubbling paint on the rear passenger lower door sill (as per photos). The rest of the car's paintwork/bodywork is in excellent condition - don't let the light scratches on one door panel fool you!

I'm looking to sell this car shortly so want to sort out this issue! Its the only place on the car that has rust as far as I can see and I don't believe there's been previous damage there. Do I still have some comeback with the local Skoda 'Stealers' as surely this would come under the 12 year anti corrosion warranty?

Has anyone had a similar problem and more importantly has it been sorted by the garage under warranty?

Best Regards

Rich

Read the Corrosion Warranty, holed panels. Perforation.

That panel is not holed. It is not coming through from inside the sill is it?

It is damaged paint external.

6 years old and allowed to rust.

Has it never been spotted until now when Serviced and Body Inspections done at Dealerships.

Part of Servicing or they say it is even though not done by many, and not part of the T&C,s of the Paint Warranty (3 Years) or the Corrosion Warranty.

You need to keep the wheel arch liners clean. The rot is caused by dirt getting into the "sponge of doom" behind the wheel arch liner which then causes water and moisture to get into the sills which then rots them out from inside. All Golf, Leon and Octavias stuff the same problem. Take out the wheel arch liner, jet wash it to death, clean up the sponge of doom, let it all dry out, then waxoil it to death (Inc sills) and reinstall.

I think your local panel shop could fix that pretty cheaply as a cash job.

Just a bit of surface rust and paint degradation.

Small area, easy to mask and blend.
